He asked her a question. She gave her opinion. Now he's being a whiny ***** and only wants to bring more attention to himself because he sucks and nobody gives a shit about him. Maybe the next penis that goes in his mouth will kill him.

I'm more inclined to be pleased about the situation. After all, not too long ago her statement wouldn't have been controversial. It's controversial now because the debate has shifted toward acceptance of homosexuality, to the point where her statement is no longer widely accepted.

This means, whatever any individual's opinion might be, the consensus is not "Homosexuality is wrong." (or at least the media-friendly consensus) It is now "Homosexuality is acceptable, but some people disagree about the marriage issue." This encourages me to believe eventually "Homosexuality is acceptable, and so is married homosexual couples" will become the norm. No matter how fixed Prejean might be in her opinion, the culture she was raised in is changing, and is leaving her behind.

Why do we care? It's her opinion let her have it. Also can anyone tell me what power she has over this subject...anyone?

At least she was respectful when saying it, something that can't be said for a lot of people out there. It really was not the right question to ask in that situation.

Political Correctness causes more probolems than it solves. Thats my opinion.

I even have a group for this. P.O.O.P.

People Offended by Offended People

not saying Miss California isn't a dunce, just saying she has the right to voice her opinion.

I have to take issue with this part of your post here. Marriage isn't an exclusively Christian concept. Other cultures have their own version of marriage and governments hand out marriage certificates, so the idea that one religion's beliefs on what marriage is should apply to people even if they aren't apart of that belief system.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. *cough*

Both Perez and Miss california are complete idiots. Perez for asking a question and getting pissed at an honest answer and Miss California for A) being a supermodel (hardly the most intelligent career choice) and B) Not giving the judge the answer he wanted. But now Miss California is the face of the anti-gay marriage parade.

Of course this could all be an elaborate trap set up by Perez so that at the right time Miss California reveals she's really a lesbian or alternatively is for gay-marriage it will throw the anti-crowd into a fit.

Its her choice to think that. Now I disagree, I think that Gays should be able to marry but its her decision and slandering her only makes the gays look just as immature as Gay haters.

I agree. You have a right to say whatever you want. But if you must say whatever you want be ready for the consequences!!! Like losing the crown!

You know I heard all about this on the news and I have to say good for her for sticking to her personal morals BUT I think she isn't right about marriage if someone wants to marry a man and man sure why not man and a goat why the hell not.

But on to political corectness let me just say I hate being anyone politicaly correct and I hit any person that is too politically correct.

Political Correctness has got nothing to do with it, that's just an excuse. The fact is, if you're trying to win a BEAUTY PAGEANT, you shouldn't bash homosexuals. That's just stupid. It would be like if I tried to get a job at Apple and I started bashing Macs.

I think a good question is, if she was gay and supported gay marriage, and the judge was against it and gave her a zero, would we still side with the judge and say, "Sorry, but you have to give the answer that will get you the highest score"? If not, then your "logic" is incorrect.

Well she can say what she wants but if she is supposd to be an immportant public figure she should learn to exept Homosexuality.
Please. Miss USA has never been a figure of any importance. Anyone who looks up to a Miss America winner is an idiot. All it is is a contest of who can wear makeup, stick their fingers down their throat, and bullshit the most.

Where did she bash homosexuals?

She said it amiably and politely . She's not a homophobe because she doesn't approve of homosexual relations.

That's like calling someone a hypochondriac because they wash their hands every once in awhile.

I don't approve of homosexual relations, and if you ask me that, I'll tell you that. I'll let you know that it's not my place to decide what others can and can't do, but I won't lie and say that I think it's beautiful and that everyone else should join the party. If you think I should, then YOU are a close-minded bigot.

For the record, I don't care if homosexuals get married or not but I don't think they should be rejected from the idea of marriage. I believe almost everyone in the media has the wrong perspective on this. It seems Miss California meant the statement to come out about how marrige should be between a man and a woman, not bashing homosexuals. It really didn't seem to me, when I saw it, she had anything against the gay society. It's just that once the media got the statement they rather take it out of context rather than look what she meant beyond the words she said, it wasn't against homosexuals at all, it was just about her perspective on what marriage meant to her.

You have a point, except that in your scenario it is likely that the truth of the Judge's decision would never be known. She would simply have been docked points, the judge would say some vague bullcrap about whatever and that would be that, just like all the other contestants who say things that offend the judges. Perez just lucked out that his particular offense is a highly controversial one. If she had bashed pineapples instead, and Perez came from a long line of pineapple growers, this wouldn't even be an issue.

You didn't address my scenario. Should Apple still hire me even after I tell them their products are rubbish? People love to sit around and philosophize about right and wrong, but the world we live in rarely works ideally, and only a fool ignores that.

no it's not, as was said MANY cultures long before christianity came along practiced marriage, it was invented long before that

and as for saying things about gays, the christian church really shouldn't comment

as for the topic on hand, yeah she's stupid for answering it wrong, part of the contest is to see how much you give the correct answer, if she had cut out her personal views, ie between a man and a woman, the answer and reaction to her would have been a lot better

She had every right to say what she did and she wasn't insulting gays, my bad thats not politically correct, she was just stating that she believed that marriage shoud be between a man and a woman, and if something is wrong with that I don't know what this nation has become and I don't wanna know.

That same book also says that you shouldn't eat shellfish and wear mixed fibers.
And by your logic I wouldn't be able to get married since I am not Christian (I am Buddhist, since the ten commandments say that "thou shalt not have any other god before me".
According to Christianity, those rules were for the Jews to follow until the messiah came.

Not sure about you're second point, but it seems to be correct. NOT SURE, though.
