I don't know if anyone else has been following this, but here's the link:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,517215,00.html

"When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

Now, that was not the most poignant answer one could expect from such a studied woman, but some say this answer cost her the contest. I, for one, would tend to believe that. I mean, why would they even ask her that question with an openly gay gossip writer as a judge? What do y'all think?

Seems strange to ask her a question where a judge would almost certainly be biased about the outcome. Doesn't quite seem right to me, but I don't really believe in the Miss USA contest either.

She had to say the politically correct thing and didn't, she said what she thought was right. Unfortunately, while you can respect her for standing by her ideals, she didn't say the thing which was expected of her and that might have potentially lost her the contest. I can see how it would all work.

Agreed. I don't think that gay/lesbian marriage should really even be a public discussion because of all the hatred and bias that it manages to draw up. I think that an openly-gay gossip blogger asking about gay marriage is like a Nazi asking if you're Jewish or not. She shouldn't ask that question, and doesn't deserve to judge if her verdict can be subjective like that.

Honestly, fair enough for her sticking to her guns. I'm of the persuasion myself, and am not offended at all by her comments. As long as she doesn't try to force them on others, in which case she has crossed the line. I can see why it would of lost her the contest though. Really though, why should it matter?

The contest is a little creepy anyway and is just a glorified exercise in leching. That she doesn't believe in same sex marriage isn't really a point that needs to be involved.

(Now the fox news page though, that was scary. Having not visited a mainstream media site for a while, I had forgotten how they focus on making you feel like hell.)

Perez Hilton is as fit to judge that contest as I am. Less so, as he doesn't get attracted to them sexually.

I disagree with her views, but feel that she has a right to express them, misinformed as they are.

I don't understand why everything has to be politically correct! it's bullshit! I"ll say it, okay, I'm not gay but i support there rights. I mean this is fucking America!Land of the free home of the brave. We shouldn't discriminate. I'll say this quick because I'm a perv.
If you don't support gay rights then how the hell will we be able to get lesbians in public? Srry girls if any of you are out there.

That question is dangerous. I have no idea why they didn't just stick with a question that can result in "World Peace."

Kind of an awkward analogy...

When her argument is "thats how i was raised" I guess I wouldn't take her serious whether the question was gay marriage, mcdonalds over burger king or nuclear holocaust.

It's like defining yourself as a non-thinking person, and distansing yourself from the answer, cause you can always blame your parents.

If the contest values intelegence and not just looks this would've cost her points in my book.

Read the transcript again. The girls problem isn't that she's homophobic her problem is that she can't speak English.
