What we need is an entire game of Water Temples.

Put some God damn hair on your chest, that would.
Twilight Princess Water Temple, that is how you make or break a man.
I take your twilight princess temple and raise you a great bay temple.
Usual water temple mind fuckery + Specific water flow routes spanning the entire temple + unexplained, unprecedented yet vital water freezing mechanic = Head asplode.
I raise you one Wind temple. (Wind Waker) You have to protect your partner and yourself, mind instakill traps, wind mechanics and unexplained gadget usage. (God I hated that level when I was a kid)
How bout this: any level from Link to the past.
Manly!
AND, you have to be drunk playing it. MANLY GRRRRR!!! *SUPER MANLY GRRR FLEX*

Only the water temples, some races, and getting the things for the real Big Goron's sword were hard. Maybe it will become press X to not die...and it never goes away till you press it. Bleh. That is literally a shot against hardcore gamers. Know your roots Nintendo.
Their roots being children, you mean?
Yes children. Children who have now grown into self-absorbed, whiny, clinging, complaining, unsatisfiable dipshits.

No...us. The people who grew up on Nintendo games. How many of us had a NES or SNES or N64? Id guess alot. Now its all about these new people. Maybe roots was wrong way to say it though.

Remember how easy but great Wind Waker was? Think of Wind Waker! Everything will be fine!
Yeah, but remember how Phantom Hourglass was retard-easy? I'm playing it again right now and the only time I died so far was because I was stupid and kept falling off a ledge. I blame the controls because I was trying to toss a boomerang while standing on a small platform. I think I kept walking off it after the 'rang was thrown.

I think Nintendo is doing just that. Nintendo has always appealed to the younger crowd most of their game characters i would characterize as child friendly. They got so many of us to love their games while we were children that we gobble up everything they give us now, I applaud Nintendo for taking the tabacco industries strategy of getting them while they're young.

Having said that, i don't own a Wii yet so i guess this doesnt apply to myself so much but I do prefer a challenge over a cake walk any day. However I can't deny that the Wii does resonate with a more casual gaming crowd these days and making their games less unforgiving is probably a good idea. I'm sure there will still be decent challenges there.

Wow, it's really pathetic to see grown men on an internet forum pissing and moaning about a particular video game being made easier to play for a wider range of audiences. Sorry, "hardcore" fans. Nintendo cares more about finding new audiences rather than babying and nurturing their clingy, complaining, and ungrateful fanboys. Nothing anyone here says is going to reduce anyone that works there to tears and if anything they'll come visit this thread for a laugh and move on with their lives.

It's even more tragic to see people come into this topic misinformed and misinterpreting the title and content of the thread as "Miyamoto is making the next Zelda game eternal-super-easy mode." (looking at you, OP)

C'mon, people. "Easier-to-play." I suppose the title "Miyamoto to Dumb Down Upcoing Zelda Title" would put people in the wrong mind set. (glares at OP once more) Easier-to-play doesn't exclusively mean "easier dificulty". How about a more intuitive interface? Or more easily acessible gameplay? Or easier-to-master controls? I'd especially love easier controls, for sure. Poor, unresponsive motion hardware is usually what contributes to the difficulty of some of the Wii games and seeing an improvement in that would be quite nice.

Im not asking for them to give Kirby a gun and make it M rated or anything. I think alot of their old games were good for casual AND hardcore gamers, why cant they try to continue doing that?

Kirby kind of does get a gun in Smash Bros when he eats Samus though... <.<

I'm not saying they won't make a game hardcore gamers wont enjoy though. How difficult a game is doesn't always make a difference in how enjoyable a game is. Though some might argue that point with me. It's a Zelda game so I bet the world and character of the game are going to be its strong point not that it took me 50 trys to make that platform jump... doh i gotta eat so i cant finish my whole point but thats the brunt of what i would say anyways.

Never know how the game will be till you've played it yourself right?

Sounds...dangerous...and honestly a little boring.

Wasn't Twilight Princess easy enough? I mean, yeah it was comparitively dark in tone but all the bosses were WAYY too easy. I didn't think Wind Waker was /easy/ but I didn't really find it hard ('cept for the last stage of Puppet Ganon). It was just...long...

As a friend of mine just said to me over msn: "back in the day we had to complete the water temple uphill...both ways!"

Nintendo should do what Ubisoft did with POP: Forgotten Sands (or what they did earlier with OOT: Master's Quest) and make more than one version of the game; an easier one for the 'broader audience' and a more difficult one for the fans/people who want a challenge.

You're kind of right in that aspect. Super Smash Brothers Melee is a good example of a casual and competitive-friendly game. (not many people gave that game much credit as a competitive tournament league game, unfortunately). There weren't many games that were good for both casual and hardcore, though. You could help by naming a few.

Speaking of giving Kirby a gun...

"Now where's that DAMN fourth Crystal Shard?"

Why doesn't Nintendo ever use difficulty settings? I know that wouldn't make puzzles any easier/harder (Not saying Nintendo couldn't go the extra mile, though...), but at least enemies might actually be challenging. So long as this isn't like Phantom Hourglass, with incredibly linear dungeons and simple puzzles that are clearly spelled out for you.

Oh and by the way Miyamoto, you know casual gamers don't care about Zelda, right? Why is this necessary?

Most of the Nintendo All Start character's series, with the exception of Metroid maybe fit well enough. Especcially Mario and Kirby.

This sort of comment kind of grinds my gears a bit. People always knock on Nintendo for their lack innovation and then start complaining when they try to mix things up a bit.

EDIT: Actually, no. Not just Nintendo, any company that tries to make a new, unique, and innovative game is always ignored by the very people that cry out for creativity. As a result, these games sell poorly, company starts losing money and people start losing jobs, and that's why Nintendo, Bungie, EA, etc. are going to be releasing and reusing the same franchises over and over. Why? Because that's what sells. That's what makes money. And uniqueness and originality frightens people, apparently.

Oh i know what you mean. IM not one of them. I am fully aware of the hypocracy of people wanting new stuff and hating when they get it. Im very comfortable in not fixing whats *not broke. Hell, Im a hugde Dynasty Warrios fan.
