The new dark fantasy action-RPG will not be Dark Souls(obviously), but something with a different angle. (My guess is something like Bloodborne was to Dark Souls).

The new Armored Core is not confirmed but strongly hinted in the interview(apologizes to fans for waiting so long and that the franchise kickstarted his career and that both he and Fromsoftware still like the concept).

Also the third 'weird' project sounds like it's going to a be tactical RPG which mixes fantasy and mechs(in a similair vein as the Vision of Escaflowne anime). Although, this is in no way confirmed.

Miyazaki is also working on the Dark Souls 3 DLC which sounds like it's going to have 3 new areas total(across the 2 DLC's to be released this autumn and early 2017).

Also a remake/remaster of Demon's Souls isn't out of the cards but Miyazaki leaves that up to Sony since it's their IP.

Anyways lots of good stuff in the interview: http://www.4gamer.net/games/305/G030528/20160526060/

If they make a sequel to demons soul's, I'm done. I'm still bitter over dark soul's 2 and 3.

That said, I'm very interested in a new IP. A medieval soul's game that's a standalone title would be okay, or an original game like Bloodborne. A tactical mech game would be cool as well. I'm interested in seeing From Soft tackle new ideas, but they seem absolutely incapable of making a decent sequel.

New armored core!!!!!!! wheeeeee!

Well as long as its not like AC5 with its big focus on online to the massive detriment of the SP experience and with stupid DRM "oh you're not connected to the the internet, well you can't buy new part for your mech".

Looking forward to new IP, I'm kinda glad they decide to retire the DS franchise and focus on other stuff, even if its very similar.

Didn't Miyazaki make armored core 5? I doubt it will be always online, but I would be shocked if there isn't a focus on online play : /

I'm still hoping for a PC Armored Core. Love the franchise (in the better entries, at least), but framerates are always pretty poor on console.

Put Patches the Heyna in Armored Core (I know you've done it before) and I'll consider buying it.

Patiently waiting, salivating at the mouth, to see what IP they come up with next. Still playing for them to do something sci-fi with a Souls slant to it.

I'm kinda disappointed that the action-RPG is any kind of dark fantasy, Dark Souls 3 showed the creative dead-end with the dark fantasy angle and I was really hoping for some kind of cyberpunk or futuristic deal where you used laser pistols instead of blunderbusses or something. I was never into Armored Core, but I like giant robots and now realize I like From's work so I'll probably go back and try one out.

I'd like to see them try something like Ninja Blade again, Bloodborne showed that they can do faster visceral combat and a game that competed with something like Bayonetta with their skills at atmosphere and level design and rewarding gameplay would be quite something.

I'm mixed on the idea of a Demon's Souls remaster. I think they should leave it alone, it still has a thriving community and it feels right in it's pre-Dark home, warts and all. I feel like a remaster would tempt them to restore that Archstone and change the crafting material rates and stuff, and it just isn't necessary as there's 4 other whole games each with DLC I can play that are a refinement on that formula. A straight 1080p/60 is hard to argue against, though. Sony owns the rights, Atlus published it in America but not Europe, Namco did, count it as very very unlikely.

"Something weird"?
Given the very transparent attempts at recycling FROM software makes, and given that Armored Core 5 is on the way...

*gasp*

Metal Wolf 2 confirmed.

I had hoped for a Demon's Souls remaster after the success of Bloodborne since many people who own a PS4 never owned a PS3(and Bloodborne basically being Yoshida's 'apology' to how he originally dismissed Demon's as crap). If you look at how many shit games get remastered there is no excuse why such a still relatively unknown gem doesn't get a second leash on life. They don't have to 'remake' the thing just ported to PS4. But yeah, the more time passes the more it seems unlikely.

I hear ya. It's a shame that the new consoles are turning into PCs in every way besides the support of games up to 20+ years old. I also wouldn't trust Demon's Souls as a good game for PS Now, getting hit by a boss because the stream dipped for a second would be totally unacceptable. Not to mention you wouldn't own it, my big issue with the concept. I've accepted not owning DVDs/Blu-rays to have Netflix and the like, but I can't ignore the comfort of looking over at my Demon's Souls case and knowing I can always play it no matter what. To your point, anyone who enjoyed Dark 1-3 and Bloodborne would have no problem picking up Demon's; it's aged just fine and would be even more Souls goodness that a lot of people haven't experienced.

Neither Dark Souls 2 nor 3 are Miyazaki's games and yeah, you can tell (I haven't played the third yet though, not sure if I'm going to).

The 'Something Weird' sounds by far the most promising to me, if that's actually what it is i'll be buying it for sure...shame almost every RPG announced today is an action rpg though :(

I was gonna come up with something clever and witty, but I CBA because holy shit Armored Core is back, bitches!

Good to see FROM hasn't forgotten the Franchise that kept them going before the Souls series was a thing.

Dark Souls 3 is directed by Miyazaki and co-directed by Tanimura(who directed DkS2 after Shibuya was removed from the project).

DkS3 didn't have the surprise factor of the original game but is still my favorite as it really plays like a 'best of' collection.

Don't know if anyone played it, but whenever I think fantasy and mechs I may be one of the few who doesn't think of Escaflowne first, but rather the PS game Vanguard Bandits. Game was awesome with a branching story and numerous endings depending on your choices and success/failures in battle. Been a long time since I've played it, but I've always liked the fantasy/mech combination.

Well, Dark Souls was a really original spin on dark fantasy so would be interesting to see how they can bend the concept even further. We are talking about the vivid imagination of Miyazaki here. :p

I'm not sure how involved he was in DS3, but he was definitely a big influence. It's a mixed bag. The graphics, costume designs, and gameplay are some of the best in the series, are are polished to a t. On the other hand, they've ditched the open world layout for something extremely linear. You're basically traveling in a straight line, and every single area feels like a level in a video game, instead of a unique world. It doesn't help that there's a bonfire every five feet. That feeling of being desperate, and then finding a shortcut that leads you back to where you started? Yeah, that's almost entirely gone. There's also a ton of fanservice. The game is overflowing with referances to the first game. Every character feels like a reskin of a character from the first game. There are nods back to the first game everywhere. It was cute at first, but eventually it just feels like fan fiction. Also, despite rehashing many of the plot points of the first game, it much worse in terms of lore and story. In fact, it manages to butcher the lore and plot of the first game even worse then two did.

I can't speak for anyone else, as this is only my subjective opinion, but I wish I hadn't played it. It felt rather, forgive the expression, soulless.
