I recently downloaded the trial for world of warcraft and I actually quite enjoyed it. I was just wandering is it worth the subscription fee oor does it get quite boring after playing it for a bit longer. Also is there any other good mmorpgs I should try before buying one. City of villains looks good. So what are your favourite mmorpgs?

Age of Conan is pretty good if you get bored of the cartoonyness of WoW. Runescape is actually pretty good too if you give it some time. I generally find the subscription fees on MMORPGS are worth it as they can be lots of fun but the problem with MMORPGS is that they take up lots and lots of time so I'd only recommend playing them at all if you have a lot of spare time and nothing better to do.

Also... stay clear of Silkroad Online. Take my word for it.

I don't really like ANY MMORPGs so far. Maybe TOR will be awesome, but I dunno.

You MMORPG players, answer me this, what's the point of an MMORPG? I never understood that.

Yeh i usually find that i lose interest in mmorpg's easily due to that "it gets better when your higher level" and thats fine with me but to be pretty honest I dont spend too much time gaming and spend most of my time in ArmA: Armed assault
So i usually dont play on unless it captivates me like Requiem: Bloodymare a great and bloody mmorpg made by the same people as ragnarok.
To add to that if anyone else plays it add: Glithrien, Tomkuron and if you do add me on it ill send ya the rest
Dont expect high level guy most of mine are only above level 11 (like i said dont play much)

I've seen videos of AoC gameplay, and it actually makes it feel like you're moving somehwere when you walk. In WoW, its kind of feels like you're moving slow as hell, or the world around you is unrealistically HUGE. Until you get a mount...then its like....

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I've been playing since beta, and ill tell you that if you enjoyed the trial, theres no reason why you wouldn't love the whole darn game. Just remember that you can back out at any time, and FFS, MAKE SURE YOU ENJOY IT! If you don't, just stop playing. I got hooked for the longest time trying to get from 26 to 60, and it was a rather unhealthy phase I went through. It was only after I hit 60 and was apparently a noob that I managed to stop.

Sorry if that scared you. Anyways, for all the complaints about grind, it really isnt that bad, its more the quests being same-y that might bug you, but at the same time, quests give big chunks of xp, so if you can get through those, leveling will be a breeze. The whole "boring quests" thing changes in the first expansion up until 80 though.

Will you get bored of it during the first month? I doubt it if you enjoyed the trial. After that point, you will have put enough time into it that the possibity of losing $15 will not be at all painful. Just pay on a month to month basis and you will only be putting $15 at the most at risk. I stopped playing WoW just before the first major path for BC, putting about two years and about $400 into it, but I don't regret it. Just because you may not be satisfied with the end result, the time and money put into the journey will not be a waste if you liked the trial. Just be sure to do a lot of group work, because playing solo all the time is a waste.

Some people have fun with it for years, others have fun with it till 80, others still get bored with it in the mid levels.

If you subscribe for a few months, get bored with it in the 40s, you can always just stop the subscription any time. Some might call it wasted money, but if you had fun in that time it was worth the money.

WoW is really fun, especially when you join parties for an instance or a raid. The best time in MMo's is group stuff. But be aware, it could quite possible suck the life out of you.

Stopped playing MMORGPS a year ago not looking back so far, maybe someday once I have a girlfriend, flat, and general direction in life until then they just suck up to much concentration and time and even then if I ever do go back to one itll be as ultra casual as possible.

The best free MMORPG ive played would be fiesta.
Well, its an absolute grindfest, but the game is still absolutely charming. Good for socialization.
Perfect World is good for the open world, but it is still a grindfest.
I'm suprised with NeoSteam, but I've gotta keep playing to make a final judgement on that.

MMORPGs are a fun way to spend time with friends and meet new ones. Well, they would be, if they did not include the horrific Satan-spawn of grinding. I have played WoW before (it's good, but not enough for the fee, I'd have to say Runescape rivals it in cost-to-fun ratios, if you play it right) and I wouldn't do it myself.

"Dofus" is the only one I've found worth playing. Then again, that bores me now too... but you can play it for free, so it's worth coming back to once in a while.

You found the trial account actually fun? Holy Shit. It's too restricting.
The monthly subscription isn't too much, considering the price of pretty much any other entertainment option, but I guess if you actually found the trial fun, then you might like leveling.

Too bad Azeroth is dead and leveling itself if doing nothing more but the same few tasks over and over. (I make it sound horrible, but only because it is to normal people. I don't mind it.)
Perhaps bring a friend into the game as well? Blizzard has a referral program that gives you a free month (and other benefits), I believe, given your friends purchases the retail as well.
Groups are fun though. I'm going to be starting up again by next week. I hope Northrend leveling is still active.

Guild Wars is the only other MMO I tried, and it didn't really grab me. It felt a lot like Diablo too.
