Does anyone out there still play City of Villains/Heroes? I used to, but stopped when I couldn't afford to pay for both CoV and WoW (which I stopped playing, pretty much as soon as I hit 85). Basically my question is, does anyone know what kind of following the mmorpgs, other than WoW, still have?

If you want any extra discussion value, do you play any MMORPGs, have you in the past, what do you think of them in general, etc?

Give Champions Online a shot, it's a good chunk less in content than CoH but at least it's free. I'm practically an MMORPG database for free-to-play stuff so whisper me if you're interested in F2P-101, because it's just too big to fit here and might incite some flaming because I don't like lots of the mainstream titles.

I reckon an awesome idea would be to cross a MMORPG with someone like Second Life.

You can go round, minding your own business, talking to people and occasionally zombies invade. Zombies aren't supposed to give warnings, they are supposed to pop up unexpectedly.

Last MMORPG I played was...tdzk (sp?). No graphics, you are given a grid reference, move one grid at a time, no NPCs to speak of. Was pretty good, but too much of a time sink.

First I played Runescape. Decided it was junk, quit.
Then I played WoW, realized it was somehow even worse than Runescape, quit.
Played puzzle pirates for a while, enjoyed it, but all my friends quit, so I left.
Then I played City Of Villains. Realized it was aboot as good as a standard MMO could be, and realized I just hated MMOs in general.

Haha I remember CoH. Those were good times, though I hardly ever played the actual GAME portion. I spent most of my time creating costumes and entering the contests in Atlas Park. I was a goddamn MASTER when it came to the character creation screen in that game.

Try Vindictus, you might like it and it's free.

I only pay for and play one of them at a time. I'm currently in a "City of" phase, and still dancing around with glee at everything Going Rogue added (at some point, I'll be doing the same for WoW and Cataclysm).

Not to mention enjoying the novelty of my J. McCallen and her singing Thugs doing good in Paragon City.

I don't support Valve for ethical reasons.
I don't play MMOs in general anymore. They're designed to be life-destroying time-sinks by nature.
Plus since my desktop exploded I've been hopping between various laptops, my current one is about as advanced as a calculator.

Vindictus is hosted by Nexon and it's designed to keep people from being addicted.

Played Runescape for a bit, but it wasn't my type of game.
Played WoW for quite some time, but 4 years was enough and I havn't played it after hiting 85.
Played a few others, none really were all that fun.

Currently waiting for Star Wars, always wanted a Star Wars MMO but Galaxies is the mother of terrible in the online game world. And I <3 Bioware, so its really just perfect. Been following the game sense 2008, so I'm geting meh game ready for this spring =)

I played WoW for several years, but quit about the time they released WoTLK. My guild fell apart, so I had nothing keeping me there. I could still do a lot of the fun still I used to do, but raiding Goldshire as a level 1 naked undead warrior is just a lot less fun alone, and grinding for my mounts and pets with no one to talk to is boring. I could join another guild as I was a good resto druid, but I didn't want to conform to strict raiding schedules or deal with chatrooms full of people whose responses range usually consist only of lol.

I've tried Warhammer Online. I even bought the special edition I was so psyched. Big disappointment.

Tried LoTRO. Boring. Tried DnDO. Also boring. Anarchy Online was okay, but I had nothing to motivate me to keep playing. I played some City of Heroes, and it was pretty fun.

I'm currently enjoying Champions Online, but I'm upset with the thinly veiled hostility from both the community and devs towards Silver Account players.

I played the free trial back in '09, it seemed really cool. I am actually playing Champions Online atm, as the 2nd poster (if I'm not mistaken) also said.

I really liked CoH for the character classes and the giGANTic character creation, Champions Online has noticeably less content in character creation (but don't tell the other players that, they don't like hearing things that make their game seem less) but it's still a fun game and the biggest advantage of all: it's free :D

ME TOO! It's BIZARRE how much they don't like us, the devs don't really talk, but when your strategy is inconveniencing a player into paying you money, it gives the impression they aren't making it free because they aren't in it for the money. The players are weird about it too, you'd think it'd be dominated by silver players, since it's free now, but the paying players all rub it in our faces how much less we are then them and their freeform-classed character.

It sounds like I'm exaggerating, but it really is weird.

So true, I hated Galaxies with a passion, and I barely made it out of the starting area.

That sounds right up my alley, I reckon I'll check that one out

Never been drawn into them. I'm a very casual gamer....shouldn't say that might get hung from the yardarm. I've never gotten into multiplayer games in general. Used to play Starcraft Battle.net back in the day but am really not competitive enough. WoW does sound like it could be fun so maybe one of these days.....

I am playing DCUO at the moment, I am liking it. It's nice to fly around, kick the snot out of people, boot a fire ball at them and make my guy look like he is wearing deadric armour from oblivion.

I do have a few issues with it though, such as the vendors sell nothing for mid level people, except a drink (restores health and power), it goes level 3 stuff (which is what you leave the training area at) then jumps to level 19 for a drink then jumps again to level 24, then 26, then level cap 30.

The main areas for the heroes and villains sells nothing but level 30 stuff so there pretty much useless till then.

You can't interrupt a person speaking with you through the communicator or you will will have to listen to it again.

The music in the night clubs is 3 seconds worth of song on a loop, it drives you mental!

It is hard as hell I am level 21 and sometimes struggle to do quests 5 levels below me, I am stuck at the moment with 4 quests all the same level as me.

It's next to impossible to escape, as soon as you are hit you slow way down and the enemies can "ground" you meaning you can't sprint/fly/acrobat away, just walk which means you die, alot.

Lastly, booster fuckin' gold! These little machines tell you to take a tour of an area and this booster gold voices it and gives the history. The problem is his voice is so smug and obnoxious and he always says his name in the voice over, "I, Booster gold, will somebody have a statue next to superman's", granted they are newb quests to get a little EXP and a weak item.

Played WoW from mid TBC until recently.
Lost interest in it now, after having several month long breaks from it.

Tried Age of Conan, did not like.
Tried Star Trek Online, but found it repetative and boring.
Tried LotRO, but found it to be too similar to WoW.

Waiting for World of Darkness Online, but that might take some time.
Might give Star Trek another shot, but I doubt it has imporved very much.

I suppose I'm going to try RIFT, but I suspect that it will be too much like WoW.
