MMO's you'd like to see as single player games?

This topic just popped in my head by looking at the banner of Warcry on this site:
What MMO's you would like to see as a single player game? I personally do not care for the MMO's, but some of them could have been enjoyable as a single player experience.

To me The Secret World had a really interesting premise and of course the new Star Wars-missfire Old Republic would have been much better received more "KoTORescue", as a the two games predating it. Sadly, I never got to test the Secret World and the SWOR was totally useless.

The argument, that one can enjoy MMO's as single player games also, not interacting with other players at all, does not sell me the game, as I like to pay once and enjoy the whole content in my own leisure... And not seeing random "H4xor69" dwarves running around the market place completing quests...

Kingdoms of Amalur
I'd agree with The Secret World. There's already a good few Lovecraft-esque games but they're nearly all fantasy or Dark Corners of the Earth period, and mostly exclusively only deal in Cthulu and like. Getting a modern look at a lot of the other weird shit would be real neat without all the need for grinding and "sniperxxdeviLL" people dressin their characters like fucking circus clowns.

While it won't change seeing random other players around (though I've heard varied reports about the state of the size of the community), The Secret World did switch to a pay-once-own-forever system many months ago. Just for the sake of argument.

As for me, pretty much all of them. While interacting with others and making friends is a big part of the fun and what keeps a person playing games like World of Warcraft, I'd love to see more games that have that kind of variety of early-, mid-, and end-game content in the form of harder dungeon-crawl-esque areas with various bosses and an end-boss that leads you back out to the normal adventuring area.

Specifically, World of Warcraft and Star Trek Online. And perhaps EVE Online, though I've never played that one. And somewhat The Secret World. Mostly because I'd just like to be able to play these games while I'm not connected to the internet, or not get afflicted by lag and other such things when my internet decides it wants to ruin me.

Star Wars the Old Republic. The main story lines for each basic class are pretty interesting. Some really good. Yet it's all stuck in a wow-clone game. The gameplay and roleplay mechanics could have been SO much better as a singleplayer game.

They said TOR was going to be like KoTOR 3, 4, 5, etc. all rolled into one. I still would have preferred getting KoTOR 3, 4 and 5.

I loved Runescape but found there are no games that come close to it with a single-player experience. I don't play many top-down games but I liked the 360 camera and the huge world that wasn't cut into seperate segments like so many games. There was a tonne of depth, and if that was ever a single-player game I'd leap on it.

The Elder Scrolls online - it's not out yet, but it seems like an interesting game world and story line. They should try to make a single player game out of it...

*someone whispers in my ear*

Wait, what?...

*whisper whisper*

Hmm.... Five games you say...

*whisper*

Morrowhat? Obliviwho? Skywhat?

*whisper whisper*

Oh, never mind.

WoW's been moving towards a singleplayer experience mindset, quite a bit of content can just be solo'd. I wouldn't mind seeing it as a singleplayer game (though raids would have to be handled differently).

I have to say GuildWars 2, because I practically played it like a singleplayer game anyway.
Maybe then it could have had a half decent story

I would say EVE, but there already is a single player version of that game, its the X series (specifically X3: AP or before)

WoW could completely work as a single player game.

Hell, the simplest thing would be to use the Dragon Age engine and set the game in Azeroth.

If they did that, I'd actually get to fight the real bosses (Nefarian, Lich King, Deathwing etc), which I've never been able to do in WoW.

I'd have to say DC universe online and EVE online. DC is a great game but there's no real world progression as the game has to be kept the same for new players and as for EVE online, I really like it but I'm too scint for a subscription :p

I like this comment.

OT, gimme a single player City of Heroes. Never played it, but if I can make my own hero and save a city, I'm in (I think I saw a tech demo for something like this at one point). Also, I've never played LotR online, but I'd like a massive Lord of the Rings single player game (I know they just announced one some maybe it'll be something like that, LotR games used to be great). And I'd be down with an EVE single player game as well.

That's my biggest issue with MMOs, I try to play them as singleplayer games and it doesn't work. I was into Final Fantasy XIV ARR for a bit, but I got tired of queuing up for 45 min to an hour just to have a shot at completing a dungeon to progress the story. And I'm terrible at asking for help, although quite glad to give assistance. Hmm, I wonder if we have any Dot Hack fans here, those were basically offline MMOs.

The only one remotely close; The Secret World. However, I enjoy the shit out of The Secret World as it is, and would actually prefer it in it's current form.

A Realm Reborn. I really want to play it and most people that have played it say it's better than WoW. Also, it's a FF game. This is one of only 3 FF games that I haven't played.

I don't play only one game until I've completed it (I rotate what I'm currently playing every few hours.) so it's pointless for me to play a subscription-based MMO.
