Modder Fixes Dark Souls PC Port in 23 Minutes

Y'know, isn't attempting to distance gamers who use PCs from gamers who use consoles a bit like trying to distance people who own microwaves from people who own refrigerators? Sure, not everybody owns both, but if they own one, there's a decent shot they own the other.

NOTE: Of course not everybody who owns a computer owns a console, but a large chunk of the people who own a gaming computer capable of running Dark Souls 2 probably own at least some sort of gaming console. I know that those of my friends with gaming computers all own one or more of the big three.

And this is the problem I was talking about when the first news about the graphics problems arrived.

There is no excuse that developer don't know that. The only explanation is laziness. Buying the game and rewarding the developer for their laziness is the worst thing they can do. Maybe From Software will do better in their next game/port, but if the game is successful, it will only tell other developer that it's OK to give us bad ports as long as the game isn't complete crap.

It seems I have to go find my DVD-ROM and put it back in the computer :-/

Problem with ports are expected but at least they tried (unlike some other studios) so I guess they deserve my money.
My prediction is that in time modders will make this port better than the original so we just have to wait some more.

Thank you. The game looks great not. You can force ambient Occulision with nvidia inspector as well.

Good luck getting this game to run with any resemblance of quality under wine...

Only thing I hate more then a Console-brat is a Linux user...

Correction: I game most of the time using Wine. That or Windows 7.

Nope not even close. As such he has not fixed the port as the title of the article claims. Good work though on the misleading title there Escapist.

I only play my PC games with my friends. I've never come across these PC elitists that you keep rambling on about. However, all console users are stupid because I've seen online that they are whiny little brats!

Uhh... PCs can produce better graphics and frame rates. We have faster loading times, and for most games, very strong modding communities. This isn't bragging, these are indisputable facts, and will remain so until the Next-Gen consoles hit the market (Then I'd give it 6mo-1yr before PCs rise to the top again).

PC gaming has the upper hand in Graphics capability, load times, and the ability to Mod.
