Im guessing it would resemble the Wanted game in a few ways. I mean, look at the facts. Modern day = guns, Wanted = Fraternity of Assassins, AC = Brotherhood of Assassins, Assassins with guns = Wanted, Assassins with guns = Modern day Assassin's Creed, thus leading me to believe Modern day Assassin's Creed = Wanted.

Modern day Assassin's Creed would basically be one of the Hitman games, except with an even goofier story.

Well, first off, the hidden blade HAS to be used (if anyone has beaten the game, you'll know what I mean).

Secondly, I'd imagine that it's possible that guns could be taken from gameplay for one reason and one reason only: the Pieces of Eden. The Templars have the Pieces of Eden and as we've seen with the Apple, they can be used to hypnotize. At the end of AC, they hinted at using the Apple to hypnotize people on a mass scale. Why not use it as a reason to get rid of guns? It would take away a HUGE threat to them at large. This would leave the assassins with close range weapons as their only choice. I mean, the Templars could always use guns themselves but doesn't mean that the assassins need to. I dunno, just thought I'd throw that out there.

My last idea, the gameplay doesn't need to be in large cities either. Beat AC2 and you'll understand. If anyone wants me to elaborate on this idea more, just let me know. I just don't want to give away too much plot for those who haven't beaten it yet.

they can't, guns would completely ruin the concept
The problem here is that they have to. How else will they ever end the series in a satisfying way?
I see that but how will they make they game not turn into gears of war or Uncharted when they do?
Assassins creed is about acrobatics and minor espionage but if a sniper can just put you down from half a kilometer away .............................. well the difficulty is raised a little

Assassins Creed has always been about innovation, and there's very little to innovate when it comes to contemporary settings.

Guns are always guns.

I'd rather have it just a few hundred years ago in England. Keep it like 1 + 2 but enemies would have muskets with bayonetts that take minutes to reload.

But if it is in modern times guns could be outlawed or something. The corporation might have a few pistols but It'll mostly be batons, tasers and stuff which could help keep the feel of Assassins Creed.

Or just make it like MGS where stealth kills are key.

Well i suppose it could work, but it would be very difficult as nowadays we have guns...you could set it in a steam punk world maybe?

Hmm maybe if Hitman and that Mirrors edge had a dirty one night stand, the little frog spawn might just grow up to be a worth while game.

Can and Should are diffrent, I think it should be kept to key periods in past, just as long as its not within the last 100 years, when you put guns in, its not going to go well.

How about a compound bow, or a crossbow? It's modern, has range, and it's stealthy. It's probably the best alternative to a gun.

Not saying it should be done, but it is possible.

Some modern day assassins still use the wrist-blade similar to that of Altair and Ezio of AC.

However, you already have a modern day AC...we call it Hitman. Not much difference between Hitman and AC except he uses guns and no wrist-blades.

Just give Agent 47 a wrist-blade and there you have modern day.
No.

Alright. Some people really need to actually play AC instead of assuming it's a stealth game 'cause it has the word "Assassin" in it somewhere.

What Makes AC Good

1.) Free-running. There is no free-running in Hitman or any other stealth game I can think of.

2.) Pseudo-open world gameplay. The storyline and the unlocking of new places is linear, but you can go anywhere you want within what you have unlocked. Very few stealth games do this at all. MGS3 comes the closest, but I wouldn't count it.

3.) Action. Not stealth. A little stealth here and there is fine, but AC has always been mostly about action. Count the number of times you had to make sure you weren't seen in AC1 and AC2 to the number of times you totally destroyed a large group of guards.

4.) Brutally realistic kill animations. This. 1000 times. I guess Hitman has this to a degree, but not on the level of AC.

I hate to sound like a fanboy or something, but I wouldn't be happy with a AC game that didn't have those 4 things in it.
