...I tried to avoid spoilers. I really tried. But I just have this compulsion for reading whole sentences. I guess I can't avoid the interwebz. I'll have to hand in my ninja badge now. I was doing so well too.
Sorry. D: Copied it from somewhere else I posted it.
I'll have you know that my Ezio figurine is frowning on you as we speak. SHAME! jk :p
Mine is smiling and congratulating me for my 1000/1000 on ACII. >___>
1000/1000? Damn yoooou. There are still a couple of assassination missions I'm having trouble with. Stupid Brutes, stupid time limits, damn mercenaries. Must get final seal.

As you can see, I have clearly gone insane....

Following post may contain some very minor spoilers.

well it isn't set in stone that the third one IS going to be modern day, or even that the ancestor you follow in the third one is going to live in a time after Ezio. The animus is capable of taking Desmond to pretty much any of his ancestors. Granted it's likely that it WILL take place post Renaissance but it isn't set in stone. Although judging by the second one there will be certain parts where you play as desmond. If all the enemies use those stupid taser stick things they use in the second one that would be kind of dumb, but I mean I guess it would WORK. I dunno, I'm a bit apprehensive about the third. All I can know is Desmond will be involved and supposedly the developers considered WWII.
I must say, does anyone else sense a "Velvet Assassin" remake a coming?

If his ancestor is female I soooo wiiin.

i dont think we'll be seeing a modern day Assassins Creed for awhile, because remember at the end of AC2 when the credits were rolling and they were talking they said
that they were heading to a northern hideout to look over your memories some more
so yeah...

oh, and whoever was talking about the assassins using guns (im too lazy to check who) remember in the first one when you could hear that guy talking to ol' Dr. Whatshisface when the assassins were trying to rescue you? you could hear gunfire over the intercom, i bet it wasnt just Abstergo using guns, the other assassins were probably using 'em too

but, then again, the assassins have probably reached some unforeseen level of badassness to were they could take on multiple armed soldiers using only hidden blades, so i could be wrong...

Oh, for the brutes, just deflect an attack (guard), then attack them and spam your attack button. Trust me. Kills them right away. It's soooo cheap.

You could also dodge the attack and attack back, but it takes so much longer.

Considering Altair and Ezio have the exact same face as Desmond...

No way, dude. D:

My friend and I were talking about this the yesterday. I can't see there see there being enough plot/stuff to do for there to be a full modern AC game, I think that 60-80% of the next AC will most likely either be set in the french revolution or american revolution, then the remaining game would the finishing the overall plot off. Since those points in time are closer to the modern era it would be easier to switch characters but keep gameplay the same.

I think Assassins Creed shouldn't be focused on modern day, because the Saboteur will be the closest thing.

I don't mean that ACIII will take place in modern times, but I am certain we will need an AC game in which does to round off the story.

My problem is that I get surrounded by the bastards, and they're very fond of smashing through my defense when I use the guard button. I usually try to steal their axe, kill the guy who had it and use the axe to hack away at the bastards until it gets stuck in some guy's back. I recently got the Milanese sword so maybe that'll help.

That would be scary. But I can only imagine Desmond's reaction to that XD

AHAHAH! you just reminded me Washington had the apple of Eden! and who else, Napoleon. in the pictures they both are depicted with an apple. so it is much more likey it will be set in the time you suggested. hard evidence wins! (aka crackpot theories.)

I predict, if it DOES happen he'll look down and go.. "woa... I have boobs!"... then request that they stop monitoring him for a couple of hours.

>_>

They might be able to pull it off. It'd be difficult though.

Anyways, I would like the new AC to have a female protagonist. That would be cool.

Oh geeze. I'm horrified.

Revelations!

1.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcTft47wsDg

It might suck, but this could be a possibility.

2.) Maybe we should take a look at GTAIV. o.o I am thinking we could take some serious gamplay elements from that and cook up a modern day Assassin's Creed.

And to think, some people were shocked at the news that there would be sex in ACII. XD That won't hold a candle to what would probably happen in that scenario.

With less profanity hopefully. (I tried playing GTAIV, but I can't say I was overly fond of the language. Man, I sound like a grandmother just by uttering that)

A modern day AC wouldnt work, why, because everything in this world today is literaly way too streamlined, think about it, cities these days have 50% of their buildings coated in glass thats smooth to the touch, you can't climb that, and we all know that AC is made for freerunning.

Just remeber how Mirrors Edge turrned out.

heres a thought....batman doesn't need guns to kick ass (AA anyone?), so an assassin (Desmond) could probably also pull it off.

I suppose that they could do it. I mean, Rocksteady did something similar with Arkham Asylum, having you sneak up on enemies who use guns without using a gun yourself. They'd have to introduce some elements (like the hidden blade)to keep it strictly Assassin's Creed, however, rather than a ripoff of Arkham Asylum, Splinter Cell, Hitman, or other similar games. Also, while I would not be opposed to having Desmond (who I assume we will control as an actual assassin in a future seqeul) use a hidden gun, a la Ezio, I agree that this should not lead to shooter gameplay.

military crackdown on weapons? maybe Desmond wont have access to guns. But more likely hitman style where to beat an area without being noticed it is better achieved with close quarters combat instead of running and gunning. Also a military controlled city would make guns obsolete(because you would be raped by soldiers.....and tanks) or they could use the mirrors edge way of dropping a gun when you run out of ammo (realism win). there is really allot of different ways that (good) developers resolve this problem and ubisoft, being well... ubisoft will hopefully come up with a better way than me.

EDIT: people are assuming that Desmond lives in a city exactly like ours we don't know where or when he is.
