This.........this has to stop, this story I have heard is so fucking disgusting that I feel physically sick from it,I don't care how we stop it, I don't know how we stop it, what I do know is that as many people as possible need to be made aware of what's happening watch and if you can tell other-send letters to your government.

Extremely NSFW contains graphic information [no images]:http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50136263n

This is a (really long) testimonial from a woman who was in a North korean prison camp for 6 years. The stories are pretty horrifying, the camps are very similar and possibly even worse than the concentration camps during the holocaust.

I didn't really appreciate how awful North Korean prison camps were until I read that. Obviously I knew they were terrible, but Christ, it's hard to imagine how anyone survives in there.

I know before I watched the above clip I was making jokes about north Korea now I feel sick to my stomach,I know it probably won't do much but I figure that if I can spread the word as much as I can to everyone I know/can contact maybe we can do something about it if you can please do the same.

I don't see how telling my friends that North Korea isn't a very nice place will actually help anyone who's in there.

It's better that they know than remain ignorant,if enough people know and voice their displeasure then maybe the various government will take action,at the very least these people deserve to have their stories known and told by as many people as possible.

Also yeah...what makes you think you can stop something in North Korea? Have you been living under a rock?
So what I should just shut my yap close my eyes-plug my ears and pretend that it doesn't happen?
Is the fact that I can't change anything means that I shouldn't even bother to do anything?
Since when do we just let stuff like this happen and say "oh well nothing I can do" this won't change anything but at least people will know.

A couple of people getting angry on the internet is not going to make the government invade a country. The only way the situation in NK is changing is if they do something stupid (which they might) to provoke the US into invading.

It's better than just accepting that stuff like this happens and then doing nothing to try and stop it.

It's really not that different, it has the exact same effect.

I posted the testimonial because some people like reading about North Korea. I didn't post it to get government action, because posting this stuff will never change anything about North Korea. There is nothing any of us can do to stop what's happening there. If you're trying to stop it, posting about it on internet forums is not the way to go.

It does have an effect it gives people the knowledge that they might not have had-just for that reason alone it is worth it-and while the odds might be a trillion to one that it actually has a tangible effect on the world those odds are still worth taking, all things have to start from somewhere.

I've heard this story before, but yeah, words cannot describe my hatred of North Korea and sympathy for it's people. We can only hope Kim eventually does something stupid enough that either the country collapses or the West has an excuse to invade and wipe that regime off the face of the Earth.

It's just a shame that we have to wait for something like that to happen,as the longer we wait the more they suffer :(
Surely china would understand and cooperate with us if we went to stop them,so what's holding us back?
Also please show the video to anyone you know in order to bring attention to the issue and if you can contact your government.

China wouldn't understand at all. China isn't known for being human rights crusaders at all. And on top of that they prefer the status quo. A war would cause a lot of NK refugees swamping into China and potentially expand the borders of SK to China which would increase the American influence in the region, something China doesn't want either.

And this is why we can't have nice things,I can't believe any country would willing let something like this happen just to maintain the status quo, surely they could be reasoned with-have them go in themselves thus no American influence-withhold resources until they do so ect ect, Would china really get into a big conflict over this.........who am I kidding of course they would and this stuff is going to keep on happening because everyone's too greedy/scared to do the right thing T_T

Er...why not?

For that matter, how many governments have gone and created similar problems for their own ends? Overthrown governments to replace them with puppets, despite them being monstrous, for example.

Hell, NK is a country, it's letting that happen.

...

I'm also wary of the effects of "informing people" about it. In of itself, not a bad idea, but often that leads to complacency and slacktivism, people have been informed, informed someone else about something they can't fix and don't have to do anything about the problems they can do something about.

I didn't saw the whole video, but I read the specific page for this terrific truth for this specific Prison.

I don't know if by saying this I will sound very weird, but I will give it a shot:

Cotrolling a people life from beggining of his/her life until he/she die, it is a very powerfull tool.
After I read that Shin didn't cried or scream when he saw her mother get hung and his brother shot, they really manipulate them with this way to only care for themself. This is the rule they must follow not only to survive, but because it is something normal for them.
Shin thought [or still think] this is normal even for us that didn't lived this kind of life like he did.

It is like the Greek movie I saw, "Dogtooth" [btw, I didn't liked this film].

It is all about to make them believe whatever you want. In other word, Shin was lived the whole time in Hell, but didn;t even knew that he was in Hell.........

Of course an fallen angel come close to him [Park] to open his eyes and show to him a better place, a Paradise.

I hope in the near future see at least this prisons disappear at some point...

I believe that they can do something with the information they are given even if it's small and that all of it will eventually build up-Please inform your friends/message your government.

Thanks so much for commenting-you bring up a good point-at least he escaped but other are still suffering-hopefully spreading the knowledge will help change this.

Really? How is that better? This is NK we're talking about, the nation that keeps threatening to nuke to west. I'm pretty sure various governments already went to put them out of business as much as they're going. While it's hard to argue that spreading the knowledge is bad, I'm certainly not going to be spreading it around as I see the only outcome as 'maybe' making others feel bad for no benefit.
