Okay so they've taken most earned on release date...

Anyone know who holds the record for most units sold ever?

Mario? Zelda? Commander Keen?
Wii Sports. 60+ million.

EDIT: I suppose you could argue that it doesn't count because it was a bundle, but Super Mario Bros' units' sold factor in bundled sales as well.

Non-bundled: Probably Wii Play.
Actually I was going to argue that it wasn't even a game... More of a toy really when you think about it...

Mario I'd say was fair enough... Back then people bought a nintendo for Mario. I doubt you could say the same for wii sports...

Yeah. I mean seriously... who goes out and buys the highly anticipated sequel to one of gamings most popular first-person-shooters? A moron that's who...

Do me a favour...

...and yet they still haven't got my money! May all the worlds be cast into oblivion before so much as a cent of the contents of my bank account is spent on Modern Warfare 2.

Makes me feel even better about the fact that I don't own a copy of this over hyped game..
What an original and creative post that clearly isn't designed to incite flames at all.

OT: I think this can only be a good thing, because I believe videogames have spent far too long not being taken seriously.

I have a recurring nightmare. News about Infinity Ward and Modern Warfare 2, again, and again, and again, for ever.
Sweet Christ, I'm having it too. Maybe we can get a group rate for therapy?

OT: I thought the record would be for most obviously slapped-together major release. XD

BURN IT WITH FIRE!!

Honestly, that is the most ill placed record ever, I mean the worlds fattest man may have looked unappealing, but at least he was a good guy... Giving Mew Two this record was like saying "being a stupid little illiterate, screaming, hacking, cheating, glitching, buttmunch is a good thing when you play video games, it gets your community [sub]1[/sub] Guiness World Records"

[sub]1[/sub] Does it even have something verifiable as a community? When I played it it felt like I'd just stumbled into a bunch of chavs in tracksuits hanging around a corner on a council estate.

Oh, and just because you all see it coming, BC2 is a better game, simply because in the 3 weeks or so I've been playing it I haven't HAD to listen to anyone, I've always been able to get a few of friends for a full squad and just stick in party chat. Obviously there's other reasons but that's probably the only one that won't get me nuked by the coming fanboys.

People are just so damned desperate to rip on MW2.

And that isn't just coming from a MW fanboy; I sold it within a couple weeks of getting because it bored me out of my skull. But I'll admit that it was a very polished game with an addictive formula that millions of people love.

And then here we have a bunch of people saying that MW2 didn't deserve this record. Okay, if it were some award based on quality, maybe you'd have an argument, but it's a sales record; it isn't decided by a panel of judges or an academy, but by people people who went out and actually bought the game. Records are determined by clear, inarguable numbers. So yes, MW2 clearly does deserve this record.

Only because it's popular it doesnt mean that it is good. Whores are popular, dressing up like a girl and behaving all emotional makes you popular and painting a green wall blue for some reason also makes you popular. I don't see any reason why millions of people in their right mind would be basically getting boners over and over again because of such a game. The campain was dumb, the co-op missions pretty good and the online the same like two games before except with stuff a simple dlc could have fixed

Still, Surely other games are far more worthy of it than MewTwo
So, a game that hasn't sold the highest number of copies in the first day should get this record over Modern Warfare 2?

I didn't say I thought it was good. I haven't even played it. What I am saying is that is not suprising it has beat a sales record considering the massive popularity of it's predecessor. Not only have you failed to grasp that clearly millions of people seem to think the sequel was worth buying ergo it must have been in some definable way good. But you have also labelled every single one of them a twat because they chose to purchase it.

Do you think everyone who disagrees with you is a twat?... Because that would make you a twat...

Wii Play was bundled with a controller, and it only cost $10 more than just buying a controller by itself. Who wouldn't take that? So, I would count that as a bundle.

Next on the list is Wii Fit, which was technically a bundle, as well, because it came with hardware for which there was the promise of more games in the future.

I guess the next on the list is Nintendogs. Wait... really?
