Edit: I've finished playing the campaign, and, as promised, have posted my REVIEW [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.154760] over in the User Reviews Forum.

Well, I've been playing for about 3 hours now, and have some impressions with the game.

1. Takes about an hour and a half to install, more if you don't have steam already. Pretty painless.

2. What the hell? After you start the game, it takes you to a 'main menu' with three options: Special Ops, Campaign, and Multiplayer. Clicking on 'campaign' takes you straight into the game. If you want to customise settings, first you have to wait for the intro to finish playing, then pause and adjust when the first mission starts proper - very, very annoying, especially since you have to re-load the mission if you change the video setting. Default when you first start is 640x480 - another annoyance.

3. the action is pretty immediate, once you get past the annoyances, same style training missions, setup, etc.

4. (SPOILERS) they drop some pretty huge bombshell within the first few missions - believe me when I say that gunning down civillians in that level isn't the worst thing that happens.

5. Gameplay wise, it's pretty much the same controls as COD 4, a few tweaks, the default Melee button is now E and the default special grenade is now Q - much easier to use without looking or remapping.

6. It looks good, REALLY good, better even than the first. But with that comes the flogging of the graphics and processor

7. Special Ops is good for a quick, no-story game, but beware some spoilers - it uses maps that augment the main game, so you should probably finish that first

8. The choice of weapons is BATSHIT, whatever you want - I even got a hold of a Kriss [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2kEg8rEPl8] at one point.

That's all, I'll post a full-review in the next few days hopefully.

Nah, I was interested in this game but after seeing some gameplay videos I decided to blow the money I had for it on Dragon Age. It was so worth it

I would buy it, or even try it out for that matter, but Bioshock 2, Bayonetta, and L4D2 are my buys.

Love it. Just finished the campaign, it's everything I could have hoped for and more.

It takes everything form COD4 and turns it up to 11, just wait till you get to the final few missions... you're in for a treat.

Any shooter fan who boycotts this game will be missing out on one of the most spectacular single-player gaming experiences of thier lives.

I thought that, to me any multiplayer FPS is never worth playing when i could be playing Unreal Tournament instead so im going to pick it up before work if my luck doesn't run dry

Yep.

I'm sure the multi is great too, despite the disadvatages of the PC version.

One teeny tiny thing... the last mission pissed me off due to a few cheap deaths. But hey, when you see the climactic scene you'll forgive it straight away.

Doesn't your point no. 2 there indicate that this is somewhat ported from a console version? I mean, what game doesn't have options in the main menu these days? Yet another reason why the hype this game gets is silly.
Remember to tell us how long it took you to beat that single player portion. If it clocks to around 5-6 hours as most people say (which I have seen at least), then this sounds more and more like a waste of money to me.

Took me 8 hours first go. That was on normal difficulty.

But I like to stop and look at the scenery a lot so maybe deduct an hour from that if you're the type of gamer who likes to rush through games.

There were two big difficulty spikes
the part where the enemies throw smoke and start to drop mortars on you in the forest... FUCK that was annoying... and defending the computer in the house right after that... reminded me of one shot one kill
which willprobably add another 30-40 minutes on harder difficulties.

Really 8 hours on normal?I saw it going for $120 in a local EB games(in Australia)
Seriously that's like $15 for every hour of entertainment, I couldn't even make money that fast with my last job. People where complaining when Halo ODST could be beaten in 6 hours?

I dunno. The aliens in the space mission were kinda lame.
Nice job spoiling part of the game.
OT: Can't wait until 10-12, I'm picking up my copy at GameStop!
Don't worry, he was joking.

The 'space mission' lasts all of a minute, and only exists to link the previous mission with the next.

Not too shabby, I quite like the online. It's a good time waster.

The campaign as usual, SUCKS. I can never get into CoD campaigns.

i've thought about renting it to see what the fuss was about - but i agree with a couple of other people in this thread - would rather spend my hard earned dollars on other things... GOW3, bioshock2, bayonetta, demon's souls, dragon age, assasins creed 2 etc.

I'd also like to know how long the sp campaign is.

If its as short as the first I'll wait till its half-price then pick it up.

This is the best movie I've ever played. Beat it at 6 AM the day I got it. I loved every bit of it. This game is indeed exactly what the hype made it out to be, and then some.
