There is no way you would catch me paying $90 for a game, save it coming with a fantastic peripheral.... like a blow-job machine.

No, I don't want you to apologize, I'm just saying that adopting the attitude of "I can afford it so fuck everybody else" is just kind of elitist.

If you feel it's unfair, then wait and buy it used or something. Everyone thought the music industry prices were unfair and as such started pirating the shit out of it, forcing a change in the industry.

We can do the same thing to video games.

Im getting really pissed off with the people who make Call of Duty after COD3. They just turned into morons. COD4 was playable I guess could have been better but could have been worse but COD5 was horrible (apart from the epic ending) and I think Modern Warfare 2 will be the same.

How dare they try and raise the price and think people should raise to their level. Screw them. Honestly they should all be put in a firing squad and shot.
Cruel but acceptable :p

This is why I usually favor the second hand games. What's wrong with waiting just that little more?

Hey! Pirating is good! It puts publishers in their place when they pull stupid shit like this!

Piracy, no matter how or why it is done, is moronic. I don't understand why someone who can't afford a game thinks that stealing it is an acceptable excuse.

Oh, and I'm far from elitist. I'm buying this because I worked to get some money, and I rather like the look of it. You want elitist? Look at the people on this forum who think that they can tell new members to go screw themselves just because their post count is over 1000.

it is £55, but in the US it is only $70.

effectively, activision upped the price by 10 bucks everywhere. the standard new game in UK for an Xbox/PS3 is roughly £45, that is ~$70. in the US, a brand new game costs $60.

and well since the GBP has more weight than the USD, they pay nearly $20 bucks more where we only pay $10.

of course it doesn't help that prices by default are always cheaper in the US(and japan) than anywhere else for games.

Well, basically,paying 90 dollars for MW2 isn't that much.

But will I buy it ? I don't know - maybe I'll play a demo or something, and after that, I'll get it.

Cause the first one was delicious.
Yeah Mech Warrior 2 was awesome! ... wait, am I still in the same decade? ...

But game prices suck honestly. $90US... 55 Pounds? $110AU ...

Now I can't wait until the "Socialist Democracy of Google" tales over the world. :S

Why should you buy it? The game will be so short that you will bang your head against the wall. It would usually be ok, but when game brings nothing new to the table, is short and costs a lot, why would you?
I hope they will stop making those games. Call of duty was nice, but short, next one was the same thing shorter and so on.

I agree that piracy is wrong, but without it I'd still have to pay $30 for my 'imported' music and I'd have to be much more selective about the music I buy. I can afford a $90 video game too, but paying that much for something when they really can't justify the price hike makes no sense to me.

I never understood the hype behind MW it just seemed another mediocre FPS.

Suffice to say I'm not losing sleep over MW2 being £55 as I won't be buying it but it does seem a tad overpriced.

FUCK THEM HO'S!

*coughs*
Well, they wonder why people Pirate games, pricing is some of the reason.
Piracy for other reasons has caused the price increase.
Which will cause more piracy.
Which will cause greater prices...

Well, I'm glad that the only games I want I can get cheap (and legally, of course).

If 'in their place' you mean 'on the street' then yes, you are correct.
other wise, you are an idiot for thinking so.

this is a direct responce to Piracy, or rather the effects piracy has on a company.
publishers and design studios are going under because individuals are stealing their work and not paying for it at all. in order for companies to stay afloat they have to up the price point of the products they produce. otherwise they go out of buisness.

thinking that Piracy is a measure to make sure companies produce cheap games is an idiots theory. all it does is kill creativity and makes the industry produce nothing but bland boring games.

Because I refuse to pay £55 for any game I will buy it when the price goes down but Activision can fuck off if they think I'm buying it at launch.
I haven't been around long... Is this a primarily European site because we have the average 60 dollar price tag here in the states.

If you think for one second Activision will go out of business if someone pirates MW 2 I would like to live in your world for a while.

While I don't agree with piracy for the sake of being cheap, I agree with piracy / boycotting when huge corporations pull shit like this. They have NO GOOD REASON for jacking up the MW2 price.

It's about WHO you do it to. We as a populace don't like being forced into a corner... just look at Microsoft. Office has become the standard for productivity tools, so if you can't afford it you can't really compete... this increases pirating and brings about stuff like openOffice.

My entire CAREER has been built on being able to use products from Adobe and Microsoft. If I can't afford to buy those products because they jack up the price all the damn time (The new Adobe suite is now $1800 CAD), I won't be able to keep up and could lose my job, meaning I'll be even more behind and it starts the downward spiral.

Same with video games. I would feel bad about stealing from a small developer, which is why I dipped into my pocket and shelled out for Two Worlds. While it was buggy and paled in comparison to Oblivion, it was still a solid effort from a small studio and I was happy to support them.

Activision and EA are by no means small studios, and they typically pull shit like this out of laziness or greed because we're a bunch of mindless idiots that will go out and buy their shit anyways so as not to 'miss out' on anything.
