That's horrifying, but I'm tempted to ask Blizzard for the WoW statistics now.
I'm only a semi-hardcore player and I'm approaching 500 days played in WoW. Say the average player has 150 days played in WoW. 150 days times 10 million subscribers is... *vomits* 410,000 years.

I wonder how that compares to other popular games, like quake, counter strike, TF2, WoW and (I can't believe I am saying this) Farmville.
People don't play farmville for very long. It's designed so that you run out of things to do every 20 minutes or so and have to come back in an hour.

And if that time had been used constructively, cures for all types of cancer might have been found, and we would now be living in one of several martian colonies after having solved world hunger/poverty/conflict.
Sad, just very, very, very sad...

Haha. To think I've contributed to one of the unknown PSN statistics. Though I have no shame! I think its fun and playing online on it is great while waiting to be willing to buy a new single player game. But 200,000 years...thats a bit...well worrying. I wonder what the distribution is like. Like is there a huge amount of people logging in a very low amount of hours and a few logging in a huge amount of time. Or quite a bit with a middling to huge gameplay time?

Great, so now Activision knows they can get away with overpricing DLC. Can't wait to see the next map pack. As for those hours, I know jocks that were lining up for this game on launch night and stayed out of school for about a week playing it. It made me think I should go join the football team, as I thought the universe had flipped or something. Anyway, those hours don't surprise me at all.
I heard that from my friend in high school. He's a hardcore gamer and he says the jocks talk more about MW2 then he does. And I'm sure you're probably called a video game nerd, right? I was. What's this whole casual gaming thing coming to?

You should go for a private match with a friend and check your RPD, there are complaints on their forums that silencers don't work on all of the LMGs.

That is a lot of hours. I can't believe people are shocked about the DLC sales, it was always going to happen. The same way the MW2 boycott was never going to work, it still sold massive on the PC.

So many people complaining about the DLC being £10, that £2 per map. You can't get a round of drinks for £10, I have a job, its not an issue.
There's also reports that Ninja doesn't always work. I know I've seen myself on heartbeat sensors in killcams. I love ninja pro.

There's so many points that are just BAD about the game but MW2 is still decent. It's just incredibly noob friendly.

And over emphasizes camping hard.

EDIT: my hard mode challenge:
-No thermal scopes, period.
-No heart beat sensor.
-No akimbo, period.
-Secondary weapon cannot be a spammed explosive, (IE: RPGs, thumper, ect) any automatic weapon (IE: them machine pistols), or a shotgun unless your primary weapon isn't automatic. Riot Shields are not automatic.
-No noob friendly combos (IE: scavenger with any sort of explosive, one man army pro + MG (since its quicker reload, and infinite ammo) or any explosive)
-No "easy" weapons- (sniper rifles have to have kick built into them, no EBR's, assault rifles need to either have a slow rate of fire, or high kick, so nothing like an ACR or an M4)
-Kill streaks that easily ramp up kills (IE: chopper, chopper gunner, AC-130, ect) when left alone are usable, but only so long as there's no easy step laddering to get to them (IE: get five kills, get the predator missile, which gives you the harrier which gets you the choppy.)

If you can follow all this, and still get a positive K/D ratio congrats! You're not a scrub.

Thats a truck load of hours. But this whole "we could be curing cancer" thing is a steaming pile of BS.

And please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, PLEASE! Stop trying to attach this faux moralistic crap to a gods damn map pack. It's not a fucking charge for breathing it's just maps! Software! It doesn't warrant all this anger. I have to wonder what your life must be like that you get riled up by something so insignificant.

Confirmation that, yes, 2.5 million people can be wrong.
It's also interesting that the PC version of the game hasn't received a patch since January.

It's really sad that all that money went to assholes who are just milking their fanbase without any love for the loyal and idiotic, if I may add, gamers. Paying for maps? Why not release the map editor and let us make our own, FREE, maps. All that money to a developer that doesn't deserve it... Sigh. Well they did make CoD 1, 2 and 4 so I suppose they deserve it a little. But MW2 multiplayer is an abomination. Can't believe people can't see through that
First, how does the company not deserve it? They made a game that has seen 200,000 years of game play. You may not like the game, but I'm sorry, they've earned it.

As for why they don't release a map editor - you said it yourself - they made $37.5M in a week by not doing that. Being 'nice' and giving away free product doesn't usually equate to great business results, Valve not withstanding.

1200 MS Points is still shit, it'd be nice if they were like BattleField Bad Company 2... It's an awesome game though

Goddamnit! I thought people were smarter than to blow an absurd amount of cash for 5 maps! 2 being old ones! Absolute bloody rip off and it still sells well.

200,000 years in game time though? I wonder how much playtime WoW players have logged.

Yes, I'm one of those people who have played MW2, realised the game is awful, and that the majority (and by majority I mean around 99.99%) of players are retards.

Hmm, thanks for the statistics! You've made me lose faith in humanity and chuckle at the same time!
