Hello, once again, to everybody who views this thread. For some of you, this would be the second time you've seen a Modern Warfare thread that I have posted.
Here we get down to the forum discussion, and mostly for those of you who have played Modern Warfare 2 for a substantial amount of time. Modern Warfare 2 is still fairly new as a game, but in the swing of players learning the ins and outs of multiplayer gameplay. This means that dominating classes of characters will arise, each with preferred weapons and modes of attack. This is both speculation and interpretation, but I have the sneaking suspicion that there will be four distinct, dominating styles of gameplay implemented in online multiplayer:
Traditional Assault
-- Assault rifles hit long range and short range, quickly, and with power. These players can nearly snipe and nearly rush. In short, they can do everything. Defined almost exclusively by use of the M16, AK47, Marathon/Slight of Hand, Stopping Power, Commando/Steady Aim.
Traditional Sniper
-- Snipers hit long range, hard, and accurately. For a long time, snipers have held the main position in multiplayer games with their cold ability to remain hidden and pick off players at distances with single shots. With silencers, they are even more powerful. Defined exclusively by any sniper rifle, Intervention, WA2000, Bling/Marathon, Stopping Power/Cold Blooded, Commando.
Traditional Rush
-- Rushers use light, quick weapons, and the best twitch skills to defeat anybody in close quarters combat. These players almost directly counter snipers when done correctly, and hence became a viable class in MWI. Some of them can out-shoot Assault when necessary. Defined by submachine guns like the P90. Marathon/Slight of Hand, Stopping Power/Cold Blooded, Steady Aim/Ninja.[/b]
I see a new class on the rise, however, and have tried it myself for 32:12 and 30:10 spreads (kills/deaths)
New Rush
-- Even lighter rushers who kill with knife almost 80% of the time, the other 20% from machine handguns. These players are faster than traditional rush, because they scrap all forms of offensive perks in order to be faster. They are too fast for some players to keep up with their sights, for some snipers to shoot, and too unpredictable for some assault to anticipate. Their main goal is to knife every opponent, continue movement, and knife more. Defined by the lightest weapon they can select (P90 for me) or the M104 shotgun, Marathon, Lightweight, Commando.
If Commando increases the Riot Shield's range, I can understand it possibly rising, but not becoming any more dominant than these four classes. So what do you all think? Are these accurate depictions of our gaming community for MW2? I want to hear your feedback, and if you have any possible speculations about a new, up-and-coming class that you want to share.
