Perhaps it's just me, but has Modern Warfare been unusually laggy lately?

I entered a game and the host was selected, too bad everyone one (even people on his own team) had a terrible connection.
After moonwalking, seizuring, and teleporting across the map, the game ended. The guy of course talked smack, but that's not the point. My whole team was lagging terribly and the game did not pick a new host.

Note: This has happened more than once today and yesterday. Also, I'm on 360.

My friends said that the game's been laggy like that a lot recently.

Can anyone shed light on the lag situation?

I've been sort of stuttering around the maps occasionally...Enough times to make it noticeable too. I thought it was just my internet connection though...I'm still convinced it is.

I had just come on to Escapist to ask this. I'm in Australia and the connections ALWAYS go to Some other country. 95% (Absolute no joke) of the time i will have either yellow or red ping. I've only had one game with Four bars and only a few with 3 bars. It ruins the game. I find myself quitting games to find one with yellow Just so the game is even playable.

It's definitely not my Internet connection because i have Broadband and i'm using a wired connection. I also played with my Australian friend and he was getting the exact same ping as i was.

I want to know if the developers are doing anything to fix the Australian connection problems

I don't know, my friends have said they've been lagging a lot recently.
You never know.

To Jesters its because all the servers are american so everyone outside of the U.S have to have there info sent there then sent back thats why the americans have better connections than everyone else.

I used to play ground war alot, but now it has become near impossible to finish a game on ground war without the host switching halfway through

I've had issues too, I thought it was just me. I noticed that yesterday it was searching 100ms ping and today it's searching 50ms (I saw that and assumed less lag). I wonder if the matchmaking system was altered somehow and that's caused a bug or something.

xbox360 version uses peer2peer connections too.

2 things may cause lag;

- You connection has latency issues.
- People near you stopped playing, so you are stuck with long distances and high pings.

Some fanboys probably found the servers and drooled over them.
Nah, I never found them.

OT: I guess there's a little bit of lag, seeing as people can survive about 10 bullets from about 5 feet away, then turn around and shoot me. Still trying to figure out how that happened.

Short answer: No.

Long(er) answer: Because of the way XBL/PSN/IWNET work there isn't a huge amount they can do. When the matchmaking picks a host it goes with who ever has the strongest connection, which is where it sucks to be you because all the XBL authentication servers are in Washington State, so it won't be an Aussie unless all the players are Australian.
I can't remember where IWnet and PSN's servers are but it isn't Aus. Unless Microsoft/Sony/Activision start putting servers nearer you it's not likely to improve. Once the game starts you get bad ping because it's p2p and you're playing on someone's personal connection who's probably a long way from you. Basically you're getting screwed by geography and short of setting up a pirate server (don't) it's not likely to get much better.

theres still a possibility, find an Aussie with an incredibly good internet connection. I cant count how many times ive stolen the host from a room full of Americans.
