Excited? I am just looking forward to finishing off the story finally (I hope its the last MW, though I have my doubts) and never buying Call of Duty again. Black Ops made me hate the series finally.

As much as I tell myself I shouldn't get excited, I probably will.
Unlike, it seems, most people, I did enjoy the MW2 campaign. Though it jumped the shark, it was still head and tails above anything anyone else has spouted in a while. Multiplayer was too overpowered in my opinion, but I could live with that as the campaign played quite well.
Black ops disappointed me. It had the chance to go for something interesting, sort of the equivalent of MW but from more of an experimental side, but instead they went for the too many explosions side. As much as I try not to sound like I'm quoting Yahtzee, there were NO quite parts, just another explosion.

The multiplayer... well, I'm not expecting it to be any less broken and rage inducing as any other COD game to be honest.

Agreed, mw2's campaign, a bit short, was a complete blast! i hear 3 devs are working on this one, but at least Infinity Ward are soley working on the campaign, so without focusing on multiplayer, it should be a blast as well.

Modern Warfare 2's story was unintelligible garbage, so I really don't care about finishing it. Also, don't trust the new studio to know anything about mutliplayer balance (not that any other call of duty developer knows anything about it either), so I won't be buying this game.

Balence is nothing a few months of beta testing won't fix. Which mw2 didn't have.

I kinda liked MW2 campaign, but god I hated mutliplayer and I wasn't even bad at it.

Yeah the campaign was fantastic in that game. I played it through a couple of times just because it was that much fun. Its my main reason to buying MW 3.

As for the multiplayer, I never really had any problems with it. It was annoying though when everyone found that the UMP45 was the best thing on Earth and easy to rack up kills with.

This, I loved the campaign; the story made sense but was told shamefully in favour of more action scenes. Didn't make it less fun though.

Multiplayer, meh, unless they have a ton of customization like Blops did, I'm not too interested. I have got bored of the Call of Duty formula to be honest, so I'll probably be getting it just for Campaign.

I'll buy it and love it as long as 3arch doesn't make it. Not a fan of everyone having commando and a panic knife. Seriously how hard is it to make the knife a separate weapon or a tactical weapon like in MW2? I love being a runner/knifer in the game, but the panic/commando just ruins it completely. Also the tommahawk, the crap needs to be auto pick up when you run near it/over it. I'm tired of playing hide and seek with it when I throw it and miss, and I end up getting killed because someone spawns behind me and blows me away while my head is down looking for my equipment. Finally, more guns that are actually useful. Seriously, MW2 had some many guns that were actually playable and you could go around and get a decent kill streak. Black Ops, there are only a handful of guns that are actually viable.
PC specific complaints, why is there no high roller? There is little point in wager matches when you can earn more money from playing a quick team death match.
Kind of on the fence about matchmaking vs dedicated servers. It is very hard to find servers that play the new maps, or to find servers without silly rules like crouch only, no X weapon etc. And it's like oh great I joined a server, my loadout has this weapon or this equiptment, I can't change it now and if I leave it is a loss for me.

I don't even know why I bought Black Ops, the only reason I have xbl anymore is because one of my friends was a regular on MW2, and now he just plays gameboy advance and PC singleplayer games. After that insultingly cheesy campaign of Blops though, I don't think MW3 can do any worse unless they introduce cover based combat, kill every single protagonist and ante up on No-Russian/Op 40 by having you kill a US allied world leader.

I'll buy this one just because I've played the first two and want to finish the story (and I guess there's still a faint sense of hopeful nostalgia that they can revive CoD4 levels of quality). But if I'm disappointed by this one it'll be the last Call of Duty I buy. Last Chance Kotick!

If Modern Warfare 2 didn't shoot CoD4's surprisingly good story in the foot with a shotgun, and consequently falcon punch it to within an inch of it's life, for no goddamned reason....then I would've been a LOT more interested.

As it as, Nope not interested cause I'm not getting it. WAY better games coming out in the last quarter (and next Q1) anyway.

I'm excited that new blood is being used to make the multiplayer portion. Hopefully they'll add new life to it.
