Perhaps in contrast to dying in nuclear fallout, either: Calling one in yourself on defenseless civilians Or one being called in and you are sent to execute survivors in the outer-most reaches of the fallout.
Other thoughts:
Just plain executing people, perhaps hostages?
Being a double agent and killing your squadmates
Fighting child soldiers
Something regarding genocide
Killing the American President or other equivalent world leader, but a specific leader not like one they just made up for the occasion
Use of biological weapons

I bet they let you play as the guy who assassinated Abraham Lincoln. FPS, all the way.
Even trough it's called modern warfare, I'm sure they'll invent a way to explain this, like they did the Chernobyl part in MW1. Like, maybe Captain Price will tell the main character the story of how his ancestor actually was the murderer?

They'll all go back to WWI and Price will be the leader of the British army due to his magnificent facial hair, mean while Soap and Nikolai go fight the Arch Duke of Prussia and Nikolai gets shot in the face by Sheperd you appears riding on a mechanical goat with Hitler on his back. Soap kills Sheperd, the Arch Duke, Hitler, and rides the goat to the year 2019 when the Kennedy's rise from the grave and start eating every one. The Game ends with the timeline getting so f up that god decides enough is enough and 2012 happens. Or you get tortured in the opening of the game.
Well, since we have silencers on all kinds of weapons (even weapons designed to be loud and intimidate), sentry guns, EMPs, heartbeat sensors, sticky grenades, thermal scopes and a rediculous unbelievable plot, my guess is Infinity Ward will need to step up the unrealism and have an ALIEN INVASION!
