Because it's pretty much the same song and dance we've played since MW1. At this point, the formula has played itself out and killing nondescript terrorists lacks charm anymore.

There's nothing done here that we haven't seen before. Storytelling has devolved into C-list Tom Clancy knockoff material and there aren't enough significant changes in the gameplay to warrant a sequel.

If you like the game, then you like the game; nothing else to say. But, at this point, I'm just so bloody bored of it all.

Is this the only way you know how to dismiss a valid point? By mocking people without actually providing any argument?
Well didn't you read the topic? or the actual post? we're talking about an idiot here.

Why?

Well...campaign and Spec-Ops are passable and somewhat entertaining.

However, the multiplayer is a steaming pile of slag. It feels like I'm playing the Beta to game being released in a year and a half, not a release game. The Battlefield 3 Alpha was better put-together than MW3.

- Shitty maps. Seriously, every map except the two Paris and London maps suck ass. You can't even contest this point.

- Terrible weapons and sound. All of the guns sound tinny and terrible, and they're lacking a lot of options (no G3 or FAL equivalent for example).

- Stupid new KSR system.

- Stupid new tools, the Bouncing Betty mine.

- Terrible, terrible, terrible spawning system.

Add to that the fact that game literally looks like it was put together using the cutting-room scraps from MW1, MW1 and Black OPs and you've got a pretty terrible game.

Well i bought Modern Warfare 3, and i'm halfway through the game right now, and i'm throughly enjoying myself, and most of all i'm having fun.
Now i've seen thread after thread of people sledging crap at it, all because it's a) a sequel, b) not superior graphically to BF3 (which has to be the most pathetic argument of all time) and c) lolololol its copy and paste HURR

What is it with fanboys having to bash everything, i mean have we reached a point where we are all cynical to the everything?

So anyway, i think Modern Warfare 3 is good for a whole plethora of reasons. i mean for one it finally balances it's fucking veteran difficulty. spec-ops is unbelievable ketchup sauce, and the multiplayers the multiplayer for which i have no problem with.

But it's the BF3 fanboys, and everyone else that is whining about a service you don't have to actually sign up for, nor pay for it, and thats why it's shit? i mean come on BF3's biggest falling point is using a fricking web browser to access multiplayer games. What is up with that?

anyway i think people should just be a little more lighter on the criticism.

biggest lols to the Metacritic bombers who all write "I haven't even bought MW3 and i think it's the worst game of all time"
I don't care that Battlefield 3 is graphically supeirior to MW3. It's that Battlefield 3 has a superior aesthetic to MW3. There are actually vivid colors, and the game is pleasing to look at. I can distinguish one thing from another because everything's not so brown. I can tell a human player apart from a boiler. That's why I prefer Battlefield 3 to MW3.

Why do I hate COD? Well...

1) Dull gameplay, I find the shooting to be a mixture of click-reaction tests and a thrilling jam-falling-off-your-face-while-you-weep-in-a-corner simulation.

2) Absurd plot. COD 4 was actually pretty decent, COD 5 was just World War 2, not much to fuck up there, COD 6 was decided to go with more thrills and "AWESOME!!!" than actual sense and COD 7 made me want spit blood it was so stupid.

Actually not a lot else to say, though considering that I've called out the story and gameplay as shit, and all that's really left is the graphics to which I say, "Meh, I think Abe's Oddysee is prettier (a turn of the century game!)" that's pretty damning.

I beat the campaign in 2 and a half hours, that's why.
Either you're exaggerating, or you can manipulate time.
No, and sadly no.

To be fair it may have been closer to 2 hours and 45 minutes. I was trying to go fast, but I ate a hamburger and some chips while playing, and died several times due to utter carelessness, so I think I could have done it in under 2 hours if I really had cared.

It's certainly similar to MW2, I won't deny you that. However, it's certainly more polished and has more variety, which is *exactly* how it needed to go.

I keep referring back to the backlash the rose up after the details about Dragon Age 2 were released. They tried something fresh and new and gamers rioted. CoD has a formula that works, did you really expect them to change a lot?

I'm apparently one of the lunatics that actually enjoyed the single player experiences thus far. Yes, it's scripted and over the top sometimes, but I would take semi-interactive scripted sequences over the dredge that many FPSes make you go through, just clearing room after room in between plot cookies. It's short, but it's fun. Plus I still enjoy the multiplayer, I'm not really into that whole scene with Elite and all that madness, but once I learned how to stop worrying and love the bombs, it was much better.

CoD isn't realistic. It's a FPS with pretensions to realism. Which means that it's basically Quake with real guns.

But yes, it's fun. Shocking, I know. I just don't get the hate.

(And before someone starts, I'm not a CoD fanboy. My favorite shooters are TF2 and L4D, other favorites include Bastion, the Penumbra series/Amnesia, Starcraft, the Silent Hill series, and so on. Defending one of many games I play in one of many genres I enjoy does not make me a fanboy)

edit: oh also it's a bad port for PC
I can't deny that as well. Hitboxes are awful sometimes, and it's kind of a resource hog. Plus, seriously. How do you see something working so well (read: servers) and replace it with something so awful?

You know the ironic thing is I'm starting to hate COD simply because of all of the "Why the hate" threads that keep popping up every day. Did you know that on GTAforums, redundant topics get locked or merged with the topic they're a paste of? Oh, but no not here. Not when so many people could make so many why the hate topics for COD.

Can't say about Modern Warfare 3, but I have owned the first one. It is the most boring shooter I've ever played. One second firefights leave no room for surprises. The victor is decided the moment a trigger is pulled. It's like Unreal Tournament without dodging. It's dull.

I like the character customization. But considering how fast everything dies already there isn't a reason for it except to keep people playing. I also like the campaign. I've played some coop modes in the sequels and I like those too. Basically, I like everything about Call of Duty that isn't its main selling point - Head to head multiplayer. Its main selling point is junk.

I've heard that the maps in MP are bad, but I also hear that the spec ops and survival modes are good aswell.

Because MW3 (and COD is general) is a extremely dumbed down game with no challenge or balance, very bad story and very limiting levels.
And yet droves of kiddies buy it which leads other games getting dumbed down as much as CoD, ruining the gameing industry.

Generally COD is a prime example of style over substance, and even the style is lacking unless you are a fan of Michael Bay Explosions.

I am actually hoping that one of my brothers get MW3 so I have the money to get BF3 if I don't get it for chirstmas because I would actually like to play both games and actually figure out which one I like more.

I find that while the singleplayer did finally satisfy my curiosity of how it would all end...COD: MW3 is nothing really worthy of note. All the weapons are basically just the same from MW2, the killstreaks aren't game changing or special anymore (I hear "UAV ONLINE" about every 2 minutes), and the Multiplayer feature's like Titles/Emblems are the same as MW2 for the most part (even most of the requirements are the same).

Basically the entire thing feels TOO much like MW2, and less of a sequel. I know Treyarch made BlackOps and Activision made Modern Warfare series...but I gotta say that BlackOps is actually better then MW3 in terms of adding something NEW to the series. Modern Warfare 3 just seems like it's a updated MW2 with some idea's from BlackOps thrown in.

I'm not saying that it's a bad game...but in all honesty I am already getting bored of it (I bought it 2 days ago on launch), which is a bad sign when BlackOps kept me busy for almost 2 months straight. Now maybe it's different for other people...but I personally can't find the "Fun" of it anymore when playing Multiplayer (Which is ANOTHER bad sign since 90% of the game/content is built around Multiplayer).

This is how i would describe MW3 .. UAV are online constantly, the perks are terrible you need 2 perks on MW3 to equal blacks ghost pro perk. MW3 a good game the campaign i was not satisfied with.. going to africa was just unusual didn't make much sense because in the end it had nothing to do with the stroyline. The maps on MW3 are so small you get killed withing 5 seconds of staring a match. Black ops was perfect no cross map nube tubing from the start of a match, they had theatre and file share, combat records, and the maps were perfect some small, some medium and some big and some weapons were better than others on different maps. And another thing quickscoping on MW3 and 2 sh!ts me. about 10 percent of the people doing are good. others just keep pressing L1 then R1 realy quickly hoping for the best same on X-box and pc or wii whatever. I hate the people that can't do it and they blindly and randomly just shoot and luckily kill someone then say... AWWWW bro did you see my quick scope it was awesome... only took me 8 shots to get him. On black ops you couldn't realy quickscope but you also kinda could.
Black ops set in the cold war was creative hasn't being doen in any other cod, but MW3 i do like the new survival mode probably the best thing about the game but black ops had zombies and millions loved zombies.
And black ops introduced split-screening although this gets annoying by killing 1 split screener the other 1 finds you.. guess what Mw3 copied them. the most creative thing about MW3 was deifiently not the campaign or multiplayer but the new survival mode all in all:
MW3 rating = 7/10
Black ops = 8/10.. but far this is the best game iv ever played
