Am I the only person here who actually liked MW2 and hopes that MW3 is more like it?

It may have had it's problems but it was so crazy and over-the-top that it actually felt fun, like being in the middle of a big, stupid Michael Bay movie. People may see that as a bad thing because military games are SERIOUS BUSINESS and hate that comparison because MICHAEL BAY IS THE DEVIL, but I don't.
I agree. I though MW2 was so much better than the first one. Why would I want a shotgun and a pistol, right? MW2 was probably the best of the closely followed by Black Ops. Just as long as they don't bring the 'shoot someone fifty-bazillion times to kill him' thing back...

Wut?
Drop shotting is the cheapest, dirtiest tactic I have ever encountered, it's not a skill, it's a reflex to any sign of danger.
"Derp, here comes a person, I'll drop to the floor then shoot him, hardy har, because I lack the skill to win a fair firefight"
Yes, I could go around aiming at the floor, but I don't want to, because then you will get people jump shooting you.

Here's an idea, ditch going prone altogether, drop shotting arseholes will disapear overnight and those 'pro reflexes' will be used more on actually being good than it will on being some loser who drops to the floor at the first sign of a person.

Yes. I have seen team mates try to drop shot me, because it's so ingrained into their nooby psyche that they don't even check for friend or foe first, they just do it out of nooby habit.
If you cant shoot a target that isnt moving then you have other problems. People drop shooting is only ever a problem if your aiming for their head/neck. This prevents both drop shooting and jump shooting from ever being a problem. Then again so does not sucking.

Besides that who actually bothers with fair firefights, or rather what you consider a fair firefight. A good player does his best to avoid getting into a fair firefight. The skilled player is the one who is alive in the end and not the person who died. Havnt you ever heard the phrase "all is fair in love and war" because that applies here.
Ha, ok, call my skill into question, good one. I was under the assumption that going for the head was the recommended thing to do, if drop shotters really were this uber race of pros than they would kill me first without the need to cheaply evade me.
But sure, the skilled players avoid fair fights, they also avoid moving and going anywhere near a spot they can be taken by surprise, so skilled players just stay in one place, most likely a corner. Is that what you are saying? That because you are too scared or terrible in the reflexes that you corner camp and assure yourself by calling it a skill?

Can I ask, I HATE black ops and MW2, but am mildly intrested in MW1 should I get it dirt cheap?
I wont be using online so would it stand up on single player?
Yes and yes. I have never been a big fan of CoD and I have general disdain for the whole "military FPS" genre, but I decided to give CoD4 a chance at the recommendation of a friend who generally has good gaming taste.

So I dove in, and I was blown away. What Infinity Ward managed to do with the franchise in CoD4 is truly remarkable. It employs many instances of telling a story in a way that only a video game can. Even with the less-than-ten-hours-long campaign, I found myself caught up in story and caring about the characters in a way that was very similar to what I felt playing other first-person games acclaimed for their stories (Half-Life 2, Bioshock, Portal)

I wouldn't have paid full price for it because the single player is short and I'm not strongly into online competitive multiplayer, but it's defintely worth a rental or a cheap buy to play through the single-player campaign.

Also, I made a post a while back with a mini-review of MW and questions about MW2:

It may shed some more light on your question.

Its not cheaply evading you, its anticipating your tactics and adapting to them. Its what skilled people do in games like that. If they know your going to aim for their head then they would have to be an idiot to just stand there and let you. That these guys have annoyed you enough that you are actually complaining about them here leads me to believe that they have been effective. It also leads me to believe that you are not skilled enough to adapt to these tactics and instead prefer the complaining approach.

But sure, the skilled players avoid fair fights, they also avoid moving and going anywhere near a spot they can be taken by surprise, so skilled players just stay in one place, most likely a corner. Who the hell said anything about that. All I said was that only an idiot would stand there and let the enemy shoot at them. A skilled player tries to avoid that as much as possible. They do this by drop shooting, flanking enemies, surprising them, sniping from afar, etc. The most common is to not head down heavily used passages since their is a good chance an enemy or four will come at you head on.

Your hostility also makes me laugh since it only leads me to further believe that I am right. Tell me are you one of those people who nerd rage every time they get killed in call of duty and swears at the enemy team and calls them noobs inbetween matches because they beat you?
That's the thing, they aren't adapting because it's all they do. I've had team mates do it to me out of pure habit, now you may think that's "skillful" or "effective tactics" but to me, it's just one above the people who spend their whole game in a corner, because they are too 'skillful' to go anywhere dangerous.

Hostility? Nope, I don't need to rage at people from my usually high place on the leaderboard, drop shotters or no. I can still beat them, it's just annoying to have to aim at the floor every time I see somebody.
Meh, maybe I've just been spoiled by better games that don't let you go prone at all.

I like what they did with 'nade launchers by having them replace your first perk, but I'm not a huge fan of making Perk 1 your equipment. A lot of those perks are broken to fuck.

EDIT:

No AUG H-bar? And why is the SCAR-H 3 round burst? I am disappoint, they remove one gun I love and fuck up the other.

I actually like what I see here. I never really had a major hatred towards any of the CoD's multiplayer. Sure, they all have their problems, but I understand how difficult it would be to make the game completely flawlessly balanced. Also, even though some of the aspects look imbalanced I think one would actually have to play the game quite awhile to see how it is like first hand.

All the games seem to have balance issues, but I still had fun with the games regardless. A major pet peeve of mine is when people would complain about you using certain aspects of the game. I'm a pussy if I used juggernaut in MW1 and WaW. People call it a crutch. Same thing with ghost on Black Ops, and thermal scope sniping on MW2. If someone tells me to take off my your juggernaut pussy and see how good you do, I simply say take off whatever perks you are using and see how good you do. Everything is a "crutch".
