I can't wait for the new season. It seems like most of my favorite episodes were written by this Moffat person. And while Blink is my favorite, I have a few things to say about it.

1) I don't think you could do the weeping angels again without them becoming just a "stock villain". It seems like they would really lose their punch the second time around.

2) I really love the writing for the episode, but as I mentioned in a previous thread, the plot for the episode is a paradox. It is a loop without any outside input. Sparrow gives the Doctor the transcript, which he uses to make the Easter eggs, which she sees, which she uses to make the transcript, which she gives to the Doctor. The story has no origin point. The "first" time the Doctor would have gotten stuck in the past, he wouldn't have had the transcript, or made the DVDs, or even written the note on the wall. Sparrow wouldn't have ducked the rock in the beginning, and most likely been brained and sent to another random time period. No outside force creates the loop, so the loop has no reason to exist.

Actually, if you line up pictures of all the previous Doctors in a row, he is getting younger. The first few Doctors were really old, and apart from a few bumps, it's almost been a steady inverse age/doctor number.

Apart from the ridiculous new catchphrase, I'm really, really looking forward to this series.
A couple people have mentioned that. What new "catchphrase". And is it really a catchphrase or more along the lines of "Bad Wolf"? Cause, I'll tell you, that was so well done and so subtle, I almost didn't pick up on it until the end.

Have you seen the trailers for the season? Smith seems to scream "Geronimo!" every ten seconds... As long as they get that out of the system after a few episodes, it'll be fine

No, I hadn't seen any new trailers (other than the one posted in this thread) as Doctor Who is the only thing I watch on BBCA, and that's the only place I can think I would see one for it at. So, it's out with "Allons y" and in with "Geronimo" eh? I always thought "Allons y" was pretty good, but eh, I guess it could be worse.

I am very glad to see a new direction for Dr. Who. I hope they reboot the Master and Davros with better writing.

Only a month? Fantastic.
(sorry)

As for lizards, there have been rumours flying around about Silurians, which are indeed rather lizardy.

I've been watching old Doctor Who videos in anticipation. Apparently Matt Smith's the best yet, although I bet everyone will hate on him at the start cause he's not DT.

I'm neither sold on the new Doctor, or the romance angle that they keep trying to push.

And what's up with the new Doctor's outfit? Time was he wore absurdly ridiculous scarves, capes and coats that somehow worked.

The weeping angels are probably a good choice for creepy monsters, but even with good monsters, it's the script that makes or breaks a series.

Time will tell.

While the weeping angels were definitely creepy (and awesome for it), Blink brought back to mind one of my other age-old questions about the Doctor -- if he's so clever, why doesn't he build a remote control for the TARDIS to make it home in on his current position in space/time? (In the *really* early days, the TARDIS was always breaking down and going random places, but it seems to have gotten over that in the modern version, so it should be safe enough.)

Oh, I know, doing that would immediately kill off about half of the plotlines and suspense in the show, but that's not an in-world explanation.

Just so I can see them side-by-side (and I haven't used the pictures of her in the miniskirt-police woman combo)...

Naah, Amy's definitely the hottest companion to date, and that's coming froma guy that's carried a little flame for Billie Piper since she was a singer...
I have to agree there. Mind you, I do have a thing for redheads.

I think that may be the point.
you mean its in the lore?
Couldn't tell you. But it seems to have been the case since the first Doctor regeneration. He always looks younger. Though I'm not sure what they'll do when Matt Smith has had enough. At this rate the next Doctor will have a rattle instead of a sonic screw driver.

Not exactly. He definitely got older in the progression from 6 to 7.

EDIT: And 2 to 3.

EDIT AGAIN: And 5 to 6... okay, I'm done now.

Romance? Fuck romance! Am I the only one who thinks it has no place on any science fiction, much less Doctor Who? Although we are talking about Doctor Who here, the show who's writers have perfected the art of fan service down to a science.

He's wearing a bow tie...how is that not ridiculous? Also, besides number four, what other Doctor has worn ridiculous scarves, capes and coats? Okay, a couple have worn coats, but that's not ridiculous, that's just awesome.

I'm really looking forward to the new season but I'm especially going to miss David Tennant and his silly hair.
