I'm pretty sure he's said he's going to continue adding more to the game once it's officially out.
It certainly helps that Minecraft doesn't have a narrative.Daveman said:Yes but it's hardly going to be a compelling narrative. Garry's Mod didn't take 2 and a half years.
...I can't believe someone took the time to put this calendar together...it's a bit creepy/stalkerish actually.Pedro The Hutt said:I take it you haven't seen just how much vacation the guy takes. =p I'll just link you to the (in)famous image. Do any of you know how old Minecraft is?! Classic, Classic! came out on May 17, 2009 and Final! will by coming out some time between November 18th and 20th of this year!(2011). That is only 2 and 1/2 years! from Classic to Final. So please can we stop with this.
So I can't entirely blame people who call him lazy, because that quite frankly is much more vacation time than any of us get.
You do know on average a swedish person get 35 days of vacation yearly? and why on earth does that chart count 7days per week as vacation, seeing how most people do 5 days on average... not to mention a lot of holidays are around January,February and March which means no work either T.T"Pedro The Hutt said:I take it you haven't seen just how much vacation the guy takes. =p I'll just link you to the (in)famous image. Just saying that the communities are the ones that keep a game alive after the creators have moved on, first through force or otherwise.SirAroun said:did you not read the part were it said that it was coming of THIS NOVEMBER! I like mods, some are really good (airship) but some are not with the feel of minecraft (guns) and more over NOTCH MADE THE GAME so please give him some respect.
I think the main beef the community has with notch is the sheer inconvenience notch's updates cause.justnotcricket said:...I can't believe someone took the time to put this calendar together...it's a bit creepy/stalkerish actually.Pedro The Hutt said:I take it you haven't seen just how much vacation the guy takes. =p I'll just link you to the (in)famous image. I think what people need to remember is:
They are prepared to pay for a game that Notch makes.
Notch has made/is making a huge amount of money out of this game, for perhaps not so very much work (in physical man hours).
In Notch's case, money + spare time = vacation! People are just jealous of the fact that Notch is making a lot of (apparently) easy money, and want to see him sweat and stress for it, as though they are paying him to be their personal game manufacturer.
Life's not like that. If you don't want the man to have money, don't play the game. Anyway, I thought that Minecraft was supposed to be like Lego - i.e. you should be able to make endless things out of just the original bits. What do you need rapid fire updates for unless the game is actually non-functional?
Note: not actually snapping at you Pedro, or anyone in particular =P The calendar thing just...freaked me out.
sorry, your oc just reminded me of this one prick who said that Notch needed to be removed and the game given to the moders. Like I said, I like some mods (Notch, Please add the hot air balloon mod to the game).Jelly ^.^ said:Just saying that the communities are the ones that keep a game alive after the creators have moved on, first through force or otherwise.SirAroun said:did you not read the part were it said that it was coming of THIS NOVEMBER! And yes, while some mods add little bits and pieces while not adding anything to gaming as a whole, mods and modders have never been given the credit for being the driving force in change in games and the gaming landscape that they have been.
I didn't mean any disrespect to Notch, just pointing out the facts. And if he wasn't okay with it, he wouldn't have made the game so easy to mod, to the point where he incorporates ideas from mods in his updates. We have a long time to enjoy a constantly changing Minecraft world whether Notch is directing it or not, and I'm sure that idea actually excites him.
Looking at that chart, it seems like he's working at weekends. Most people don't work during weekends in Sweden. Instead of looking at how much vacation he takes, look at how many days he spends working.Pedro The Hutt said:I take it you haven't seen just how much vacation the guy takes. =p I'll just link you to the (in)famous image.
