Mojang Selling minecraft for $2.5 billion

Still, I did find those who complained that Persson was selling out a bit on the humorous side. Seriously, as a businessman myself, we're in it to make money. If a business owner can cut a deal that will set up their entire family for the next 10-20 generations, they're going to.

Notch selling out isn't the problem in itself, it's that he's become a massive hypocrite by doing so, considering:
-He claimed that Windows 8 and the Metro interface were destroying PC gaming.
-He pulled support for Occulus Rift after they sold out to Facebook for a similar amount of money, saying he didn't trust Facebook to ruin the experience.

There's a lot of people who wouldn't mind being a little hypocritical for a cool $2.5B - doubt he'll sweat it.

If im reading this correctly it says this to me, all the people who were crying 'Notch is lazy!' back in the day were sort of right, he wasnt enjoying having to work on this game all the time anymore. Notch founded Mojang and hired all these people so he could stop being forced to work on minecraft all the time but even that couldnt get him away from it since it suceeded in ways hed never imagined when he started and felt shackled to it. Microsofts deal is a way out for him that even if Microsoft can be shady, ensures that the game will be supported. Also consider he isnt the only stockholder in Mojang and that the other guys who worked get some of the money too. He might not have had as much of a say in it as we think.
