I was playing Saints Row 2 last night, playing the Samedi mission where you have to shoot down choppers before they make drops. There were 2 left, and I knew I wasn't going to get them before they made the drops. I sighed, ready to do the mission over, when there was an explosion in the sky, and the cutscene to close the mission played, before the game told me I'd completed the mission.

have there been any moments in gaming where you had to stop for a second and ask yourself "What just happened?" or "How did that just happen?". Not limited to glitches, if there are any plot twists you want to add, feel free

Gears of War 2 had plenty of those moments, I can't really go into detail though.

In fact, GoW2 had the most plot twists I've ever seen in a game (no, I rarely buy non mainstream games :l )

I was playing NeoTokyo yesterday and a shotgun shot cross map on Rooftops.

Me and the guy i shot were both like, on what planet would that shot even have hit him, let alone killed him. Put me in a pretty good mood though so im not complaining.

A couple of stalker glitches stick in my mind as well. People flying off in strange directions being a constant source of immersion breaking entertainment

I was playing Fallout 3, up around where the radio towers are. I looked back to see if Dogmeat and Fawkes were alright. I look back and a dead robot comes flying over the hill and lands next to me. It made me laugh so hard.

Another thing in Fallout 3, Fawkes fell behind a bit, so I went back to check on him. He was on fire, fighting a Yao-Guai, whilst a raider who was wearing Tesla Armor was shooting at him with a flamer. I just sat there saying "The fuck..?"

in assassin's creed, and i actually have video of this, if someone fell off a cliff, near the bottom their limbs would catch on the sides of the cliff (because of the ragdoll physics) and it would stretch their limbs out to odd lengths. i would push guards off cliffs in Masayaf just so i could walk down and WTF at their twitching bodies.

Saints Row 2 has some great WTF moments. Ever been walking out the street and have someone drop out of the sky and splat in front of you? How about having a streaker bolt past with two cops, tasers in hand, in hot pursuit? A pimp beating on his ho? A random civilian try to steal your car when you pull it out of the garage? Some strange shit goes on in the Row.

Your fellow gang menbers in Saints Row 2 are really efficiant, there was a couple of times I would drive to a mission only to get there and find my buddies already killed everything and I would get the credit for completing it.

OT: In CS:S I was heading in to kill me some terrorists and decided to just shoot through a random window with my silenced pistol, I fired off about five or six rounds and killed two dudes with headshots. Then for a few weeks after that every time I played that map I would shoot through that window...... just in case.

I think my WTF moment was when I was playing NeoSteam, and I had traveled halfway between these two towns, and was in the process of fighting a boss to clear one of my quests, and had almost got him, when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I was back in the town I'd departed from.

The server had been so laggy that it hadn't registered me leaving that spot for about fifteen minutes, and then caught up at that moment.

I almost broke my screen.

In GTA3 for the PC I remember riding a bike and getting stuck vertically against a tree. The bike kept shifting into the environment and eventually I got sucked in with it, at which point the bike vanished and I just fell through a beige void. That went on for about thirty seconds or so before the screen started to look different and I realised I was in the sky. Sure enough ten seconds later I hit the ground and died.

Best, glitch, ever.

On Fallout 3 a mutant hit me with a chunk of wood which sent me flying into the sky about 300+ feet, and for some reason I didn't die from fall damage.

was playing ace combat X on my psp against my friend in multiplayer a long time ago. all our wingmen had been shot down and then it became 1-on-1, as the countdown timer ticked towards zero. the round was going to end in a few seconds time, but both of us were out of range of each other's missile when i thought-darn it's gonna be a draw, and then suddenly "win". i was like: how did that happen so i went to check both our replays and it turns out that my fren was shot down mysteriously by an unknown missile. i can only assume that it was a missile that had lost track when my fren happened to have run into it's path.

Oh, a classic that must be mentioned. I believe it's on the 007 GoldenEye game for the Nintendo 64 (may be wrong on the installment) but in the first ever example of motion sense in gaming if you tilt the cartridge while playing all characters and vehicles on screen do a spazz contortion dance. Imagine getting that problem when you least expect it.

I was playing Halo 3: ODST today and I got the "dome inspector" achievment. Get 15 headshot kills during the NMPD HQ flashback. What was wierd is that I got the achievment with my first 15 kills. It was cool.

Edit: An even weirder thing was also in ODST today, when I was simultaneously meleed by two hunters and went flying 250 meters into the side of a building.

Once while playing GTA: San Andreas on my brother's PC, I was playing around with some cheats. Namely, flying cars. First, I took an ambulance and flew it into the ocean, and let it sink to the bottom. Only it kept going past the ocean floor. Slowly, the screen tint changed from black to a deep, fiery red. Eventually, after five or ten minutes of just sinking further and further down into the depths of GTA hell, I appeared, in the ambulance, ten feet above the street in the middle of town.

Don't know what the fuck happened, but it was pretty awesome.
