Many games have had events that have dropped my jaw on the floor. One good one for me is when I saw some of the bosses in RE 4... mostly "Midget Napoleon" as Yahtzee calls him (and I do to) when he actually decided to try and kill me. How about you, members of the Escapist? What moments in game have dropped your jaw?

Seeing boobs and a sex mini-game in God of War. "Mature" games always skimp on boobs.
Sex and violence are the peanut butter and chocolate of a great time.

The end of Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando. At that point in my life, I hardly heard any language (except for some words in Aqua Teen Hunger Force). However, when I first heard the word (though censored), it still caused my jaw to drop. Then again, it could have been what happened before then.

In COD4, while the helicopter flies away, and the ending of that game as well. I hadn't been paying attention during the former scene and then all of a sudden it was like OMGWTF IS THIS WHY AM I MOVING SO SLOW

The scene in Bioshock where...

You beat Andrew Ryan to death with a putter.

I realize that there's much gorier stuff out there, but I don't know. That was really striking to me, and certainly jaw-dropping.

Really brutal, at least.

When I first played Devil May Cry 3. The first real boss fight against Cerebrus. My reaction was one of: "I'm supposed to fight THAT!?"

It was awesome.

When I was playing multiplayer for the first time in Far Cry 2, and I threw a grenade into a watchtower-like thing, and it blew the roof and walls off in a spray of wood chips. Of course, the rest of the game was dissapointing, but damn what a beautiful moment of distruction.

Being an ultimate fan of the original Ninja Gaiden trilogy on the NES, I was obviously floored when i first played Ninja Gaiden on the XBOX.

A moment would be when i fought the Nine-Tailed Fox in Otogi 2. Then, the battle after that one. A-fucking-mazing end to an amazing game.

I was nine when Final Fantasy II (IV) came out. It was my first RPG (brother bought it for himself, I thought I'd try it) and there's a scene when the Babel Robot (or whatever it was called) started walking across the land, then it got attacked by a whole bunch of tanks and airships piloted by characters that I thought had died. I was blown away. It was so cool.

The other was the Hydra fight in God of War. The reason: I had no idea it was coming. I just bought the game cause I heard it was good. No one told me I was going to have an epic battle just minutes in.

The cutscene in the first Command and Conquer game where Kane blows Seth away with *BOOM* headshot! I remember I literally choked on my gum! Saw it again on youtube and it's still as cool!

The final cutscene in MGS3. Rocketed the entire game beyond the previous installments in my book.

I've had some "WTF!?!!?" Jaw drops, but I can't remember why specifically...

Ending of Silent Hill 2, the big reveal where
You find out James killed his wife and that Silent Hill is a hell of his own making...
it just staggered me, hit me like a brick to the chest. I had never known a game to draw you into the plight of its main character, scare the living shit out of you and then at the very end completely turn around and fuck with your head to such a degree.

SH2 was one of the only games where I watched the credits... simply because by the end of it, I couldn't move to pick my jaw back off the ground.

Pretty much all through FFVII, (interrupted once for crying).

A singular moment, however, would be when I fired up my HDTV for the first time after buying it and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Yes, a thousand times yes. No other moment in gaming was ever so potent and suprising.

Mirror's Edge, the first couple of levels were absolutely jaw-dropping, from sliding down the slanted roof of a 50-story skyscraper to jumping from the roof of a building to hitch a ride from a helicopter. All absolutely amazing moments... and then the rest of the game happened. :(

I'm not sure if I'd say surprising, but yes, certainly potent. It's one of those cutscenes that stands out so vividly in my memory that it's not even funny.

The fight against Yami in Okami.
That was a ridiculously grand boss fight, combined with a complete mindfuck

I came all this way to fight some evil cyborg baby seal thing?
