The entire series I thought he was a monkey until this scene.Innegativeion said:Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Only time I've ever genuinely bawled in response to any form of fiction be it game, film, movie w/e:
This made me WAY more emotional than Kamina's death, for reference.
Made all the worse(better?) because I COMPLETELY didn't see it coming. That scene hit me like a ton of bricks.
For some context:
Viral is a genetically engineered 'beastman', therefor has no 'spiralenergy'(until the final battle) therefor cannot reproduce. The scene takes place during a dream sequence where everyone is seen living their ideal life(or close to it). The sharped tooth guy, Viral, is a stoic badass with a heart of gold, and despite being a jerk for a while you can always sense he's got more going on emotionally. Then this scene happens.
Oh god...The Wykydtron said:Gurren Lagann. Episode 8. Manly fucking Tears. All over the place.
Seriously that entire series was amazing, go watch it if you haven't already. Boot it up again if you have.
Oh man. I know that feel.Superior Mind said:The Simpsons. In response to Bart and Lisa asking why the family photo album has no baby pictures of Maggie, Homer tells the story of Maggie's unplanned birth including his having to quit his dream job to return to working at the power plant. Mr. Burns puts a de-motivational plaque in front of his workstation reading "DON'T FORGET: YOU'RE HERE FOREVER." Homer, distressed, goes to the hospital and is in a depression until newborn Maggie holds his thumb. His outlook instantly changes. Homer answers Bart and Lisa, saying there are pictures of Maggie but he put them where he needed them most. Cut to Homer's workstation with the plaque plastered with pictures of Homer and Maggie. The plaque now reads "DO IT FOR HER."
Sweetest moment in TV history. Still makes me misty eyed.
God damn I love Gurren Lagann. Showed the GF Gurren-Hen a couple days ago. When the... event happened, it blew her fucking mind. The Wykydtron said:Gurren Lagann. Episode 8. Manly fucking Tears. All over the place.

Oh wow, someone DID post this! That makes me glad. Although I've never understand the hate for the show. Yes, it did favour the violence and nudity a bit much. And the characters were annoying sometimes. And there were slow parts. But it was still entertaining and very engrossing. Every new person I introduced it too insisted on sitting and watching the entire thing, simply cause they couldn't stop. That music... and the emotional connection that develops once you understand Kuta and Lucy's past makes their parting at the very end so tragic. And of course the director and his daughter. I'm too manly to shed tears, but I was fucking bawling like a girl inside.Casual Shinji said:Since we're sticking to TV shows I'll add Elfen Lied.
I don't hate it, but I don't think it's particularly good either. I never had a problem with the nudity though, I was more appalled by the whole "cousin love". And the violence was supposed to be shocking and brutal, so...Project_Xii said:Oh wow, someone DID post this! That makes me glad. Although I've never understand the hate for the show.
