My example is gaming-related, but I wanna hear tales of amazing good fortune from outside the realm of electronic entertainment too.

So I've been tearing through Planescape: Torment (this is my first playthrough, but I already realize it's my favourite game ever). I found this character named "Jumble Murdersense", and all he would do was giggle like an idiot. I told him to cut it out and he threw a spell of continuous hiccuping on me. Now The Nameless One rocked back and grunted every few seconds, including in-combat.

My only "get this off me" dialogue option with him was "take the curse off or I'll kill you", so I went with that and he attacked, forcing me to kill him. I proceeded to wander for some other way of removing the curse and ended up making a lot of game progress while doing so.

Then I find a guy who's supposed to be a master of curses, but he can't remove it and instead gives me a curse I was supposed to use to leverage Murdersense into removing mine. I have no save files from before the killing, so I Google this problem and find there's no way to remove the curse aside from Murdersense lifting it. Dying and coming back doesn't work. Remove-curse spells don't work.

So I realize my game's pretty much screwed, and decide to live with it and continue my adventure. I load my save and--lo and behold!--the game had glitched and removed my hiccuping.

So, with that probably excessively long story out of the way, what mad strokes of luck have you experienced?

I guess catching legendary Pokemon in Pokeballs counts...

Or catching Dialga first turn in a greatball

One day I was playing knockout (like the basketball game knockout) and the court we were playing on was one of two that were surrounded by a huge chainlink fence. My first shot was terrible and rolled off to the second court while the kid behind me was trying to make a shot to get me out. By the time I got my ball back, the kid was two feet from the basket and about to make a dinky little layup. Out of desperation, I heaved my ball like a baseball from a full court away. It hit the other kid's ball in midair directly above the hoop, which made my ball go straight down through the basket and made his ball fly way over the fence. The guy behind him had all the time in the world to make his shot, and for the rest of the day, I was the king of fourth grade.

Umvc3 . I was playing with my team ( x-23, dormammu , storm ) and i was demolishing this guy . Near the end of my game i had all x-23 and dormammu at 50% health and , storm at 100% whist my opponent only had hulk at a sliver of life and lvl 3 xfactor . I got cocky and used my crossover combination super, hulk picked up ALL three of my characters. He hit me three times and dropped his combo. Those three hits killed x-23 and dormammu , and took off 90% of storms life . One more hit and he would have destroyed my team . I don't know what happened to make him drop a easy win but my heart stopped . Storm was coming in with 10% health against a x-factor lvl 3 hulk ( which makes him do double damage ). In desperation i decided to go all or nothing . When my storm came in , i just pressed " S " killing hulk who was jumping towards me to do godknows what to my poor little storm . Not sure id that counts as a comback , but felt good . I learned my lesson , never get cocky .

I know I've had several extremely luck moments, but I can't remember even one of them at all. Not even little details like what games I had them in. This is going to bug me for rest of the day.

I was hit by a car once... but it was less like getting hit... and more like doing an unintentional somersault over the car and sticking the landing...<.<

Mad strokes of luck... This very weekend my wife and I stopped at a truckload sale, and picked up a $250 tent, for $99, then found the actual store where they sell the other stuff we would need for a decent camping trip. Next day, we decide to blow off the day, and found a couple of yard sales, where I found a $700 camera (35 mm) setup for $20. The camera setup included 1 standard lens, an exposure meter, 1 telephoto lens, 1 mid-range telephoto lens, 2 flashes (1 electronic, one old style dish flash).

The next day, we didn't have an argument. Probably the longest running streak of luck of my life.

Okay guys, story time.
A few months ago, myself and six other friends were pissed out our minds and decided to go for a drive up a steep hill, everyone climbed in the car, as did I, then I thought to myself "This is too fucking cramped, I'll sit on the boot, the driver will know I'm on it" the second I got on the boot, he welded his foot to the floor with the accelerator, topping 80Km/h uphill, going around sharp bends and such, once the we reached the top (I was unaware that we were up the top) I started to bang on the roof to tell them to slow down, everyone got out of the car, looked at me like funny I asked "Wut mate?" they replied with "Was that you banging on the roof?" I said "Yeah". Lets just say that I could've died.

I was born very premature, they say 3 or 4 months, dunno how correct that is. My lungs weren't fully formed and I was in the hospital for 8 months after birth. Even after I came home I was still extremely small and my heart stopped on a few occasions.

My heart ended up stopping and my mom started screaming asking what the number for 911 was because she was freaking out to a point she couldn't even think.

I'm lucky just to be alive really :p In and out of the hospital my first year of life, I think I was a tad lucky

Aside from that... I haven't won much of anything... the next luckiest thing is a very barely dodging an attack in Dark Souls and winning the boss fight. I'm not that lucky of a person when it comes to every day things

Going from Mc D's back to a friend's place we took an alternate route, but the back road was closed for construction, so we pulled into a blind driveway only to see a dumptruck coming at us. I was able to reverse and stomp on it without getting smashed, and reversed onto the main road. Guess what? Another dump truck. So now we're going south in reverse looking at this truck grill and the bastard's not slowing down. I manage to get into the other lane, slow to an almost stop, and what crests the hill we were closeby? Dumptruck. Goddamnit. Lay a bit of rubber and keep ahead of that one, barely.

Oh, and this was in my grandmother's Caravan. Two second's difference in any of those three cases would have got us seriously injured, or even killed.

Moments of staggering luck? Well, the fact that I am here living is proof of the luck of mine and others around me. Being less philosophical, I almost got hit by a car once. Almost!

When I was going to my weekend military reserve drill, I bought $8 worth of scratch-off tickets. I won $140, $100 on one and $40 on another. I felt pretty good the rest of the day.

Also, I'm a left-hander. If both parents are left-handed, then there is a 50% chance that their children will be left-handed; however, if neither parent is left-handed, then the chance of their children being left-handed drops to under 2%.

Guess who beat those odds? (~.~)b

My staggering luck. Sindragosa ICC 10 Heroic (WoW) She's a million hp left and the rest of my raid has died. So I'm all thats left, a lone Paladin tank and the stacks of things left on her. I managed to drag her out using all my CD's and LoH and killed her. Vent exploded with cheers for me, it was our first time killing her heroic mode. I felt like a god. Good times back than

I once hit a baseball when someone else wasn't paying attention and came within an inch or two from drilling them right in the temple. Instead of immediate medical attention all he needed was a new pair of shorts :).

Not me personally, but my little sister sank a 72-foot chip shot in Wii golf that had us all going berserk. Yes, we play Wii golf on occasion. And we really, really enjoy it.

Well I can list one example of staggeringly bad luck in League of Legends. Playing Pantheon, I jump away from a clearly going south teamfight. He has the ability to jump straight into the air and land about a quarter of the map away. Essentially you get out, they ain't finding you and you can recall in a bush somewhere.

Got down to low health, finished the channel and landed on top of a full health enemy Warwick who just so happened to going for Blue Buff instead of helping with the teamfight... Goddangit

I suppose getting away with 11 health in LoL is lucky in some people's eyes. They're wrong and they simply did not have have damage to kill you rather than you suddenly being able to luck through damage stats XD

Oh randomly finding a Soma (gives your entire party full health and SP mid battle) in the final dungeon in Persona 4 was the only thing that let me drag my underleveled party through the final boss. Those things are rare compared to how Persona 3 lobs them at you the whole game.
