Haha yeah, it's still a stack of upgrades. But at least it's not a stack of upgrades with disgusting levels of syngergy :)

(Although, come to think of it, that's not really true either. Spycicle + DR is still trolling pyros something ridiculous. But hey, at least I can fill up a plog on DR spies now.)
Ah Spycicle + DR, just like having to respawn but you still have eyes and a gun

SPUF was right about the sandvich and the deadringer/enforcer combo.

Are you kidding? Dr. Enforcicle is still a kickass build XD

Nah. They rarely get away after the Spycicle/DR kicks in. I just quickly find them again and use my airblast to keep them in place. Then once the DR wears out, in comes the Axetinguisher/Flare crit. Plus, someone using the Spycicle leave freaking ice statues behind when they backstab people. The stealth! It's too much to handle!

Ok, I just gotta ask - where do you people play your games? Ever since I started playing LoL, I've been hearing about the atrociously bad community that apparently does nothing but swear and *****. And while I've met the occasional douche (and promptly muted him), at least 3/4 of my games were without any noteworthy flaming or raging, maybe some slight bickering if we're losing. Sure, there was the occasional game that was nothing but flaming back and forth between my teammembers, but thats about it. Listening to people, you'd think every game was nothing but 100 words for penis.

Even more hillarious was my move to DOTA2. If there was one community that had a worse rep than LoL's, it was DOTA's (and HON's), and from all I've heard, it all migrated to DOTA2. Imagine my suprise when I found that people in DOTA2 are fairly well mannered, nobody really flames (I've had 3-4 real flamers in about 70 games), most people are just focused on the game and usually just focus on communication.

Seriously, what gives? Do I live in some bizzaro parallel universe or are people overstating the "horrible" communities?

That being said, communities are often correct. Tell them what you plan to do, and they'll be able to tell you if it'll suck balls. Everything from patches (LoL, WoW, etc.) to entire games (everyone told EA Syndicate would suck, and lo and behold, it did, etc.), gamers know what they DON'T want and publishers/developers have on average proven that they'll justify most pessimism levelled at them...
I'm with you as well. I've never had any really terrible experiences besides a few fail games. Even the thread is a joke. First of all, not everyone who plays it goes on the forums. Not everyone who reads the forums POSTS on the forums. And the trolls that post on the forums (the vocal minority) somehow encompasses ME who doesn't even go to the forums? Its an overblown sweeping generalization.

Even when I played Black Ops (yes, I own Call of Duty, I play many many many games in different genres. I'm making a statement because CoD is apparently the worst.) I only maybe encounter one or two little kids in one play session with mics that I can just mute anyways. And you know whats the best part? They've never even been obnoxious or trolling! At most they just talk a lot to their friends about some unrelated topic. Takes 3 seconds to mute them.

I must live in some Bizzaro world as well. I guess having good experiences with something is forbidden by the internet. Mobas are competitive games. If you are bad at them you are a detriment to your entire team.....because news flash, its a team based genre. The learning curve isnt going to be removed because you get emotional when a troll tells you to "lol uninstall noob". I wouldn't say its a bad community, I'd say its a competitive genre. And that's good, because competition breeds IMPROVEMENT. All games have trolls. ALL of them.

MOBAs are the shittiest genre of games to ever be devised.

Good players don't have fun because new players/players with slower reflexes make them lose despite them doing their best, minimizing the rewards to make a fucking 45 minute to 1 hour match a pointless waste of time.

New Players have to contend with toxic assholes who would rather put them down and insult them rather than help them improve.

Nobody has fun, unless some people get off on being poisonous fucktards, and even then that still puts them in a minority of people having fun. There's a LoL club at the college I attend, 3 of my friends and several of their friends attend. Last time I stopped in to visit, more than half of them were in the process of raging at someone or rage quitting. When I asked "If this game makes you guys angry and frustrated most of the time, why do you keep playing?"

EVERYBODIES answer was "I don't know."

LoL isn't fun, it's ADDICTING.

I find games like World of Warcraft and Mobas fun. Who is more right? Does it matter? The bottom line is that what one person finds fun another person might not. Its all a matter of perspective. Everyone you know who plays is a raging troll? Funny, because everyone that I know who plays it genuinely enjoys it and finds it fun to play. Your experience of the genre doesn't make mine any less valid.

I've NEVER sworn at anyone over a game of League of Legends, in fact I'm one of the players that helps new players and tells the trolls to shut up, so me liking it must not mean I'm a poisonous fucktard. Unless you think you know me better than my friends and family, which, then by all means, do explain your logic.

It's normally the opposite, a lot of complainers essentially destroyed WoW, they all came in late to a game we all enjoyed, and then started asking for things to be changed because they didn't like the game that they were choosing to play. It was like somebody walking into your house that you'd been altering and changing for the last few years, and telling you that your wallpaper was wrong and that all of your furniture needed to be moved around because they didn't like it.
Yeah it's usually that scenario that is far more common. How many franchises have been ruined because the fanbase whined and complained too much about insignificant shit? I couldn't even begin to guess. That is one of the main reasons why I now hate whiny, complaining, fanbases, which is to say pretty much every fanbase of everything ever made ever.

it depends though....unless the makers of that actually listen to those "fans" (and as a result the game is worse)

I don't see how it can ruin the franchise, in that case you just stay away from the internet

fans can be whiney (but also right somtimes)

my only problem is when said "whineyness" is based on somthing too subjective, or based on lack of acutal information

I've noticed on thing about people who ***** a lot over games...

Nothing is bad or wrong UNTIL is negatively affects the person complaining

Mass Effect 3 ending is a great example. Those who didn't consider it bad called out and even made up reasons to badmouth those who hated the ending

Sony's removal of OtherOS is another great example. People who didn't use it and literally benefited in NO way, shape or form to it's removal declared ALL linux uses who felt cheated were whinny bitches and wannabe pirates

The RROD is something similar but even those affected by MS knowingly sending out faulty hardware defended it and attacked those who were pissed so it's an odd one

Basically what I am saying is... MANY times the 'terrible' community were right, it's just when you're affected do you see it.

PS: For the record, with the exception of the ME3 ending my examples here are NOT things I suffered, I gained/lossed nothing (Well, other than my rights as a consumer or whatnot) with the Removal of OtherOS and my near release model 360 hasn't suffered an RROD and has even survived having an entire cup of water in it but this doesn't mean people who felt cheated were in anyway, shape or form wrong to demand a Crucifixion

So yeah, I often consider the 'terrible' community to be right without even being one to suffer the issues

PSS: But granted, despite everything I just said LoL is filled with dicks, BEST update ever was the one where half the game comes pre ignored :D

Probably Runescape....yep, Runescape...or Jagex in general.

I mean sure, development time may have been leeched up by the revamp to combat, but the past 3 or so months has been less playable content that stays in the game and more 'heres a few holiday events, skill tweaks and a piece of content split in two just so people won't moan about Dragon Kites dropping quicker than they would be'.

Funorb has been in comatose since like 2010 when they bought out Undercroft for some random reason, 8Realms has been shut down due to the village builder genre not making enough money (gasp?) even though they already have an existing village building game that's probably more dead yet had more collective profits due to being the first one Jagex players has probably played. (War of Legends).

Mechscape has been renamed to Stellar Dawn, probably just because they didn't want to pay hundreds and thousands of dollars to address squatters and they shelved it because they wanted to work on Transformers....i just don't see how they can ditch a game they have been producing for about 5~ years, all for the sake of quickly producing a game based on a famous license....that would mostly be made redundant unless the cartoon and movies doesn't significantly diverge from the current themes and designs.

Plus since Transformers Universe is using a more advanced version of RuneTek, chances are the RS team might be split between them both due to a possibly sharing the same coding outside of graphics, with the current state of affairs in terms of content in RS, the bellowing of Wheel Deals every single time a world event like the Jubilee happens and Transformers Universe, it just seems like they have shoved aside what made Jagex well known in the first place, just to make a few more bucks.

There's the change in playstyle that I'm fucking fine with, you go from being a guy who spends all his time taking out engineers and medics to someone who cheerfully goes about taking out anything that looks at him funny.
You can do that anyway! practice them chainstabs, fun will be had.

I'd have to agree with anything tf2 related though. SPUF whines about everything, so if something is proven OP they're always right.

I'm not sure I've ever seen Darius in my lane. Guess that's what I get for mainly playing Sona or Leona. Yay not going top!

But yeah, the community is pretty retched. And also not helpful. I hop onto the forums to look for information about my characters, only to find that since they are neither over nor underpowered, there are no threads about them at all. But 42 about how awful Darius is, and another 68 about Pulsefire Ezreal costs too much.

In which case any amount greater than zero is too much.

Perhaps I should clarify, when I say "ruin the franchise" I mean each successive entry gets worse or becomes less and less enjoyable. Obviously it doesn't ruin the entries that are already there.

Not very often.

or unreasonably high standards, which is 99% (not actual statistic) of the time.

In fairness, this is on NA right? EuW used to have a tonne of log in issues about a year ago, where 2 hour queues were the norm. In the end, they had to compensate the players. I've heard that there are issues, but not at the scale of EuW at the moment.
It was NA, I don't know if EuW experienced similar issues. EuW was always an infrastructure issue though, their servers were all but literally made of shit. This go around they actually fucked up something on the technical end and ranked still isn't working because of it.

The Wykydtron said:
Fuck your pool Vlad, I hope you drown yourself with it.
I could not agree with this statement more.
Well, EuW currently is also experiencing problems. Not long after my post i got thrown out of one game, another one i was the only player left in it and 20 minute log in queue. It's certainly not as bad as when the Eu servers before the split (where NA players were saying that it was unfair that we got free RP for not being able to play for 2 weeks).
