I have been playing Skyrim (Xbox 360 version) for a while now. I am now trying to get a house in the game but the only problem I got is getting the money for one. The most money I have had at one time is about 5000. I make money with a bit of ease what with killing so many dragons and unloading the bones and scales to merchants. My problem is that I tend to spend money as fast as I make it.

You see I am an archer in this game so far and as many of you know arrows can be used up pretty fast. And skyrim seems to be meaner to archers then Oblivion was becuase you rarely get your arrows back from dead bodies of those you killed, Especially from dragons. So i find that i am blazing all my money away on the arrows I need for combat. I need help finding a suffesent way of getting money in game.

has anybody found some good ways to make money?

I am an Woodelf who exceeds in archery, Sneak, light armor, and restoration. Can anybody help?

Doing the Dark Brotherhood gives you a steady source of income. You also get 20,000 gold + tons of gems for completing the main quest chain.

Finished the Main quest chain. I was having the same problem then.

How in Talos' name did you spent 20,000 gold? Serious question.

I have a similar build as you, except I use 1h weapons. I've had problems with finding merchants that have enough money to buy all my stuff.

Make armor, potions, jewelery, etc etc and sell it to merchants. Loot everything from dungeons that you can.

I've also had an excess of arrows (I currently have 400 iron, around 80 steel, 100 of the ancient nord, some Dwarven) I've been going around 2 shotting most monsters on master difficulty... Iunno how you're having troubles with arrows.

Well, I had a similar problem and found that switching to cheaper ammo helped a lot. Also maybe invest in an enchantment for your bow, to get more out of each arrow. Secondly, a great way to make money is doing smaller dungeons, they're more common than dragons and they have a lot of loot for you to take, plus, draugrs (could someone tell me how to pronounce that?) drop a lot of arrows, so that will help you as well.

Arrows. I like to buy the most powerful ones in bulk at the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun. I also burn though with Armor and such. Again. I like to get the best stuff available ASAP.

Sneak allows you to break into houses and steal stuff. Just expect thugs to come after you. I never ran out of arrows since most bandits had them and I explored a lot. Raid a couple of bandit camps and you can get some good loot depending on where you go. Tombs usually don't have enough loot to make it worth it but you can try to sneak around undead.

You can also try smithing and alchemy since plants are everywhere. Don't know the prices since I wasn't into it at the time, but an ingot is probably less than an armour.

Possibly raise your Speech for perks?

That is why, You don't need the most powerful arrows, I haven't bought a single arrow and I can easily 1 shot mobs with my bow and the stealth bonus.

Put some bow damage enchants on your armor

I recommend that you just make it the priority. When I started saving up for the Whiterun house, it took me less than an hour to get the 3500 gold I needed (I already had 1500). My suggestion is that you learn to loot well, start by looting everything with a high value, and once you get over encumbered, you can drop the stuff with low weight to value ratio's. Hide armor that sells for 17 gold really adds up over time.

Good luck.

Is there a way to build arrows from scratch? Better yet, why not work towards being able to use Bound Arrows if possible? Your supply would only be limited by Magicka and if I'm reading the stats right, they're pretty decent.

If I've said something stupid, I haven't got the game yet (It's eating me up inside) so my suggestion is based off information from Oblivion and the UESP Wiki

EDIT: Ah. Seems I didn't do my research probably. No bound arrows. Seems kinda lame. Still, maybe it's cheaper to make your own

I haven't had to buy a single arrow, and I use my bow whenever I can. Its not my specialization (I don't even have any perks in it), but it is nice to have.
It sounds like you have a case of the "OOOO SHINY!"s. You see something shiny, and immediately get it no matter how little of an upgrade it is.
The bows and arrows in this game are so very comparable that you should only upgrade when you come across a new bow, or the arrows you are using just don't cut it anymore.
I've had a stack of 80 steel arrows for about 13 hours now, and I've only lost about 10 in my encounters with mobs.
You need to:
A. get the perk that lets you get more arrows back from kills
B. get some speech perks
C. spend a few hours at the nearest mill
D. get some daggers
or E. stop burning so much money

if you cant hack combat, just go outside and collect all the herbs you can carry and make potions to sell
you'll run into plenty of radiant elements that throw free gold at you too
( you do not need any bottles and alchemists let you use their table for free )
also, pick up a pickaxe as you will find gold / iron around quite alot, you can craft it into daggers and rings to level up your smithing skill to get dragon armour

I've made most of my money pawning off stolen goods to the Thieves Guild. Temples are stocked with lots of valuables worth pilfering.

Or you invest in pickpocketing and stealth and pretty much walk behind someone and strip them naked in a split second, I personally find it 10x more enjoyable then spamming 'E' in a building.

Get speech up, invest in shops and get the top perk that gives vendors more money.

Steal for the thieves guild and rob expensive shot.

Take bounties from various bars and clear out a few dungeons looting all you find.

Sell it all.

I've made ... a hell of a lot (won't post my cash count, don't want to see people cry) ... But thats because i've spent hours clearing out dungeons and travelling between the dungeon and my house to store all the loot and then travelling around selling it all.

hmm I'm a one hand weapon specialist so i have no need for spending money but right now I'm carrying over 25,000 gold from just exploring and i have about 50,000 gold+ in items in my Whiterun home it's all just a matter of doing quest, exploring dungeons and looting.I,m also for some reason a bit of a hoarder in video games.

I found a quick easy way... once you get married, your spouse will open a "store". You can ask them if they made profit once a day and they will give you your "half" - 100g... this doesn't disappear, it accumulates, so if you ask them in 5 days, they give you 500g. I stay at my home and sleep 24 hours 10X and ask my hubby, he gives me 1000g. So in 240 seconds you get 1000g.
