Essentially, 4 teams of four (in separate instances but the same session) fight the monster at once, with shared hp (not sure about rewards or specific part damage) to try and take it down. Not entirely clear whether it has to be in tandem or you can do 4 runs in sequence with 4 people or what.

The boss also has its own unique area, which looks to be loaded up with some of the siege equipment and traps that were previously only in special arenas or the tedious Zorah Magdoros fight. While it does look to be much bigger than most monsters (Other then possibly the story boss), but seems like you'll be able to fight it on foot as well, unlike ZM.

Also the second general overhaul update. A bunch of new UI improvements. Some buffs to drop rates for the endgame Streamstones used for augmenting. Tempered monsters that drop streamstones also got buffed against being stunlocked with flash pods.

If you missed the previous update, that added the Deviljoho monster and a couple of related quests. Some other minor improvements, and the ability to return to the Gathering Hub instead of the main base, which has upped the amount of people actually using the social space somewhat (although some functionality is still exclusively down in Astera main, so not entirely).

As a player who has yet to reach High Rank or even finish the main questline yet, I really need to get my arse in gear.

Yeah, but you'll get to launch with a half dozen or so extra monsters and some of the balancing kinks worked out. And possibly bowgun controls that don't require memorizing four sets of radials and hand-eye co-ordination of a Guitar Hero Expert <_<. Silver linings, lol
