I remember my English teacher asked me this question when I was in ninth grade, and ever since then I have been very interested in people's opinions. Let's say you are in a room connected to a separate room by a single door. A gun has been set up and rigged so that it will fire through the door hitting, if anything, whatever is on the other side. You have no idea what's on the other side of the door, but a man offers you $1 million to pull the trigger. Would you do it?

Yes, if he says nothing is on the other side in writing, so if I do kill something, I pocket the million and sue his ass

Basically this question is "Would you kill for money?"

I personally don't think this is as illustrative of a personality as people tend to think, as teenagers/immature adults tend to say "Hellz yeah bro I am superhardcore life means nothing to me" regardless of other factors.

I might do it if the person on the other side was randomly chosen. I mean, the chances of it being someone you care greatly about are less than winning the biggest lottery.

Sure I would. I could just blame him if it ended up me murdering someone, and still keep the 1 million.

You have absolutely no idea if something's on the other side, and he's not telling. Good idea though

I'm gonna say that if someone offered you a million dollars to fire, it would most likely be a person on the other side or something they clearly cant kill themselves. For a million dollars I wouldn't, a million just goes to quickly.

Ask him what's on the other side of the door. If he refuses to tell me, I leave.

If I can't leave, I kill him, just out of spite, open the door and find out.

Would you be charged with murder if it kills someone? If no, probably. If yes, no. A million dollars does you no good when you have to spend it all on a defense attorney.

Another interesting question: If you did pull the trigger, would you want to know what was on the other side afterward?

I would be suspicious of any one offering me a million dollars to pull the trigger on an unseen target. I would probably decline.

I think there's a movie coming out about something similar called The Button about a couple that gets a button that if they press it, someone will die. Sounds interesting.

And yes, I would pull that trigger.
