Death Metal makes me feel exceedingly happy, and a lot of DM is just happy dudes with instruments making cool tunes, some of it's a bit more full on and more of an emotional/spiritual purging (gorguts, cryptopsy's once was not, etc) but mostly there's nothing really "dark" going on.Wardnath said:

Gateways To Annihilation is my favourite Morbid Angel album, closely followed by Formulas. Everything David Vincent got his hands on needs to burn.

Yeah, you get the idea. I would not call it great music, but it's purty morbid awright, boy howdy.
Some of Cryptopsy's stuff is pretty morbid too. I favour their earliest two records. The lyrics have a rather poetic quality. Phobophile is a song about a man who (figuratively) lives off of others' fear, because he sees himself as so much higher. Also, I love quoting the first verse:
In the kitchen
with a screaming triple amputee.
Its completion depends
Solely on my needs.
Said amputee's stumps
are my way of saying:
"Thank you! Just for being you!"
Its fear tastes better than its limbs.
Cute stuff.
