There must be people in the printing factory that steals these disks to put on the internet. I can't see this many companies having leaks in their staff or networks to allow the games to get pirated.

Actually, most leaks come from a game store such as gamestop, game, gamestation etc. They get the game a few weeks early usually, and 'pirates' will then offer to pay a price to rip the game to their laptops, then spread it online.

You do realize that Microsoft will easily be able to tell your playing illegally and ban you from Xbox Live right?

Why pirate the game, you can't play online...

Besides - thanks to a certain ignorant [words deleted] I already know what happens in the story...

Actually, you can play online, and shitloads of people have been, hence the server resets. And also, they can't tell 'easily' or there would be no modding community.. They can tell, yes, but all of the custom security measures put in place by these 'pirates' reduces the risk dramatically.

Making a Backup copy of a game you have purchased is not illegal.

....it actually is. It's an unauthorized duplication, which is against the copyright. When you buy the game, you don't actually buy the rights to the copyright.
So yes, in fact this is illegal.

Who cares? Piracy makes the world go around. Everybody has done it in some form or another, simply recording a TV show is a form of piracy. It won't affect the sales anymore than hosting it online after it's been released.

Yeah makes sense to me. Attacking paying customers. I'm sure there is absolutely no negative side to that for a system that makes its money monthly.
