Halo 1 is one of my favorite games ever. I will buy it just for the nostalgia overload Ill get when I play it with my childhood friends. I totally get why people will not want this game at all. I however can't wait

Whoa, what? It doesn't run on the Reach engine, it's the Halo 1 engine with updated graphics. They stated that the gameplay is 100% the same... to the point where you have an option in the game to, at literally any time, switch back to the original look. I doubt they'd bother rebuilding and re-balancing all of that on the Reach engine.

Watch the video on Waypoint, they give the details on that.

EDIT:

From the Halo wiki:

According to Frank O'Connor, there will be a button configuration that will allow players to switch back and forth between the graphics of the original 2001 title and the 2011 remake.[2] O'Connor also stated the game will feature "a graphics layer running on top of the exact Halo: CE physics and gameplay engine, so it feels exactly like Halo."
So you're right... and wrong? I guess? Huh...

That's odd since The link says that it runs on the reach engine?

What? I just read it as being done on the Reach engine. Oh well, I am still gonna get it just for nostalgia factor. Gotta love you some Halo.

Maybe the multiplayer does and the singleplayer doesn't. I did see an assassination in the trailer when it showed multiplayer footage.

EDIT: Pff, who cares anyways, point is, more Halo :D

like you just said, they confirmed at E3 that the multiplayer runs on the reach engine. the campaign runs off the original engine, with a new graphics layer on top of it.

multiplayer=reach
campaign=original

this isn't speculation, but confirmed, cold hard fact.

2 engines on one game? I didn't think that was possible.

Medal of Honor used Unreal for the campaign, and Frostbite for Multiplayer.
OT:I'm skeptical, I hated Reach with a passion, but thought that 3 was perfect.

I must have it. CE had the best story, and it will be fun to play it again in better graphics. I am so buying this when it comes out.

I'm hoping they'll release a PC version about a year later that runs very poorly due to a half assed optimisation that dooms the series on anything other than Xboxes. They just can't recreate the full Halo experience without that.

Did they remove the library level?
Nope. In the teaser they show it. Looks better than ever but that just means that beast of a level just looks prettier when it comes around to kick your ass on Legendary.

This game will outsell every game for all time to come... until the next Combat Evolved remake. To Console FPS fans everywhere, this is nectar and ambroisa. This game will always live in my mind as the first CONSOLE FPS (for all those people who will try to bash this by saying that HL1 came first) to get it right. I have the disk from the PC edition framed... when I'm not using it, of course. :)

Wait, it's going to have Firefight mode? And I can change the visuals so it looks the same as it originally did?

My anticipation for this just went up several notches.
