Cod Piece? I thought he had pissed himself after looking at how ridiculous he looked.

I'll judge the film when we see some moving footage. Until then, it is automatically going to be bad like I judge any other film that hasn't shown me anything.

Calumon: That looks like a fun game their playing in the last two pictures! ^^

...looks a bit...homo erotic in those last few pictures...

Ah dear, the suit looks horrible.
I have extremely low expectations of this film...Toby Maguire was is, and always will be Spiderman, in my mind.

Oh well:(.

Whats with the shoes? It looks plasticcy and crap, but then I don't expect the film to be anything other than plasticcy and crap

Couldn't they use a GRAY codpiece?

Please?

I doubt I'm going to see this movie.

What exactly is wrong with the new suit? As far as I can tell, it's more accurate to the comic than the one in the Sam Raimi movies -- note the web shooters on the wrists. I can understand being iffy on a reboot so close to the last set of films, but the costume doesn't seem to be a negative to me. Does no-one else remember the collective nerd rage that came about from the costume in the first movie?

Edit: In fact, here's a comparison. It looks like the new costume is a comic-accurate rendition of the costume he wore to the wrestling match that is such an important part of the origin story.

That version of the origin story (from the first picture there) is from a version created after the first Raimi directed Spider-Man movie as no Spider-man origin story retelling had wrestling until then. The original comic started off in 1962 and the origin has been retold lots of times, but I know that the whole wrestling idea came in after the 2002 movie. If anything the comic pic you posted is less accurate to it's many predecessors than Raimi's version.

This is just SO unnessacary. The third Spiderman was crap yes, but I can let that slide based on the great first movie and the excellent second. We just dont fucking need a Spiderman reboot in the same decade as the original came out.

Whats next? Someone releases a Pokemon movie and it turns out to be fantastic (lets just say) and then two years later any asshole with a camera and crew can just mutilate it and rebuild some kind of Frankenstein that just personally suits them better? Fucking garbage.

Just goes to show the the difference in quality between a a photo taken with a reasonably expensive camera and a footage filmed with cameras worth tens of thousands of pounds. It looks shit now, but the finished product should look clean and crisp.
I hope so, it looks fucking awful in those photos.

However, I remember that first photo that got released, and I think that was an official one.
In that, the costume looked amazing.
But in those on-set shots... Damn, that is one tight suit.
I'd rather not stare at some tight blue-encased arse, thanks Marvel.

I dont like the suit either. Maybe its just growing up with Tobey Maguire Spiderman and seeing that costume all the time, but I just dont like this one. I mean, I've liked other suits, like the symbiote suit, the Ben Reilly suit, Ben's Spiderman/carnage suit, Iron suit, and the Stealth suit, represented below in order listed:

Plus the alternative costumes not listed here that you can use in the PS1 Spiderman game.

The picture may be from a more recent version of the origin story, but the wrestling match was definitely in the original version.

here's the link to the page that I got the picture in my earlier post from. If you scroll down, the author talks about how the wrestling match was in the original story, but retconned out of a '70s version. In the comments, they talk about how it was brought back in in the '80s. I personally remember reading a novelization of the origin story from the mid '90s, well before the movie, which included the wrestling match.

A baggy Spider suit would be just as distracting because it makes no sense. It's a suit, it's supposed to be skin tight, for movement and stuff. In most of the comics you can see every bulging muscle through the suit.

The one beef I have with the suit is that it is so shiny looking he looks like an action figure, I honestly didn't think I was looking at real people. I hope its just because they aren't finished with effects and such.

As far as those shots that everyone keeps commenting about it looking a bit homoerotic, how is this a change for the spiderman, or most superhero, franchises? Not meant to be a burn, seriously, objectively look at any spiderman comic for like 3 seconds, he's pretty darned homoerotic from canon.
