I'd definitely recommend the game if you're interested. Morrowind is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. It has an extremely atmospheric and imaginative game world that practically begs to be explored. There's also an extensive amount of backstory and lore if you take the time to speak to NPCs and read the books scattered around the land. In my opinion, $4 is practically a steal for such an immersive game.
However, I feel obligated to mention a few caveats:
Combat is awkward and clumsy by today's standards. Basically whenever you swing a melee weapon or shoot an arrow, the game takes your skill with the weapon and uses it as a "to hit" percentage. For example, a Long Blade skill of 25 means that you'll only score hits with large swords approximately one out of every four tries, while a skill of 75 results in a three out of four success rate.
Magic is even more clumsy than melee or ranged combat. Not only will unskilled characters frequently fail to cast spells, but it will still drain your mana (or "magicka" as it's known in the Elder Scrolls universe) bar regardless. Unlike more modern RPGs, magicka does not automatically regenerate in Morrowind. You have to either use a restore magicka potion or rest to regain it. If you decide to create a mage-type character, I'd recommend downloading a magicka regen mod. Just enter "Morrowind magicka regen mod" in Google and check out what the modding community has to offer (while you're at it, check out the other mods as well. The amount of content offered is amazing, from simple bugfixes to new content and graphical overhauls. You can even download entirely new landmasses to explore that rival the size and scope of the original game).
Since it sounds like you have a busy schedule, make sure to watch your time spent playing the game. Once you're hooked, Morrowind has a nasty habit of making the hours fly by. I can't tell you how many times I've fired up the game just to play it an hour or two, only to look at the clock again and suddenly realize four hours have gone by.
