What do you think?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_Online

It is a new mmo coming out soon. It already has a beta. There are some complaints but from what I can read on paper it looks very interesting and something I have been looking for.

Its main selling point is crafting and creativity. I do not know much about the system but from what I can understand you can create your own weapons, armor, house, etc.

Do you think this will be the next best MMO or a bust?

The game has no level/class system, but rather a skill based system. Players will be measured heavily on their own skill as well as the skills they've chosen to train on their character.
I have to admit, this does sound interesting.

I'll be on the scope for it, thanks for the info.

As for Next best MMO? Hellz naq. But it could be a good game.

It actually looks kinda intresting. More fluid than most MMORPGs. Not a "WoW-killer", but a nice new game, for sure. Doubly nice if they actually use Scandinavian mythology or pastiche of it as a background.

The longer it stays around, the less I think WoW can ever really be 'defeated' in the MMO realm. Who knows, maybe they'll get so big that they'll branch out into other industries and we can all rent our apartments from Blizzard in the future. I would live in a Firebat themed slum any day.

As for the game, it actually looks quite promising in my opinion. I'm not entirely sure that it looks good enough to actually pay for as it stands, but that is more a function of time and money constraints than interest in the game. I'm really curious to see where the whole Deva skills thing goes where you can improve all characters under that account.

Seriously if they live up to the hype of creativity I will buy into this game big time.

In its current form it's completely crap, with graphical and processing glitches up the wazoo and virtually no worthwhile content.

That will HOPEFULLY have changed by the time they actually release it to the public, since the concept looks fairly good, but seriously...I mean, when you've got a glitch giving you horse-filled lakes and another one making it possible to hit an antelope a few dozen times without effect only for the server to catch up two minutes later and make it spontaneously collapse and lose all connection to its head...yeah...

Uh, you see I can deal with graphical glitches and stuff if it lives up to the hype of creativity. In a world where you got the same damn big name companies releasing the YOU CAN DO ANYTHING GAMES but then always limited to the story or something. I mean I am willing to make A LOT of exceptions if the creativity and crafting works well, or hell, even works the least bit.

I agree that it has a lot of wonderful potential going in the creativity department, but in its current state it is quite literally BROKEN. That will (hopefully) be fixed by the end of the beta, but we're not just talking about some mild issues here.

Many MMO's seem to promise this and never deliver. I agree that would be what I'd like to see in an MMO though.

Mortal Online will definitely not be a big big seller, let alone a wow-killer. That is because Mortal Online = EVE Online in a fantasy setting. This is painfully obvious if you are even remotely familiar with any of the games.
And no, having seen Yahtzee's review of the latter does not count. Having that man review any game that has its online content as a main selling point would be like having Hitler review locally authored books for the Jerusalem Post.

In any case, Mortal Online seems as though it has something unique to offer, and will surely check it out. I hope they mimic EVE even more and give us a free 14-day trial so that I can confirm my suspicions.

How is the system broken? In what ways?
