Most annoying character voices?

You know the way it is: in any game you play, there's a character that literally makes you want to shout "My god, would you shut the hell up, please?"

So who's your ear-hornet? The character that actually makes you hit mute so you don't have to hear them? And Navi doesn't count; I mean actual speaking roles.

Mine is currently Lymle, from Star Ocean: The Last Hope. She literally sounds stoned, and if I hear her say " 'kay?" once more I'll punch the screen of my TV in.

Rochelle from Left 4 Dead 2. I often find myself wanting to TK her, particularly when she decides to laugh at something. If she sings her "We made it..." song upon reaching the safe room, her fate is f**king sealed.

I had the bug with Lily in New Vegas where she'd repeat her stealth line every 10-15 seconds. I ended the mission wanting to kill her. I think I cheerfully handed her over for medical experiments after.

Remember that recent Persona 5 live stream? Remember Teddie's Japanese voice? Remember how you wanted to choke that little shit?!! I cannot imagine how anyone can complain about Sam Riegel's performance while Japanese have to go through this!

I would have to say that one of the most annoying character voice is Ashley from Resident Evil 4. Her voice when she is in trouble pissed me off much that the only reason I shot the people taking her was to make her shut up. It is a miracle that you could make her hide in dumpsters during certain parts of the game.

I love Samurai and Dynasty Warriors. Now, I actually think the voice acting is fine, but I get annoyed when the voice I get used to is replaced, or doesn't fit.

From Samurai Warriors its Mitsunari Ishida, Hanbei Takenana (his young boy voice in the JP verson suits him better), Mitsuhide Akechi, and Masanori Fukushima are some highlights. Oh, and Hideyoshi. I hate when he sounds like Heathcliff.

From Dynasty Warriors its Sun Quan...and that's basically it. Cause since DW7 he just sounds bland. Jia Xu also could use a voice change. He (and Mitsuhide Akechi) both have Edward Elric's voice actor, and though I love him and don't mind him doing Xiahou Ba, he has too many roles and his voice is just too sweet for Jia Xu. (He looks like a pirate/raider who always is scowling)

She had a great social link and did some very valuable things for S.E.E.S., but that voice and those repetitive lines! Two more left! Akihito Senpai's in trouble! Et cetera. Mitsuru's voice for that was much better(plus no Marin Karin spam). Hell, even Ted and Rise were better and that's saying something.

Yeah seconding that. In both Persona 3 and 4 the first announcers were so much better than the permanent ones that come in later. Although Rise was definitely better than Fuuka.

The random marines in Halo 2. Just about every one of them have such stupidly annoying lines. That's about all I can think of at the moment. I'm rarely critical of voice acting, probably because I don't really have strong enough feelings about it to care either way to be honest.

The VA's did fine with the material, but the writing for them is questionable. I can sort of see what they were trying to do with it, but I'm not convinced that it was a good decision.

By contrast, Halo 2's scripted dialogue is phenomenal.

Kind of shocked that FFXIII hasn't received a million rage posts yet. I don't mind the VA's at all, but it seems like Vanille and Snow (and occasionally Lightning) are powerful magnets for this sort of discussion.

My vote is for slippy toad I don't think i really need to explain why, but in case you haven't played star fox slippy is useless in combat and pretty much spends the whole game whining in a high pitch screaming to be saved.....ugh.

I can kinda agree. for me it wasn't so much that their voices were annoying as it was that the daughter was voiced by the woman who did one of the Rugrats (that old nickelodeon show, for people who want to make me feel like an old man) and she used the exact same vocal performance. distracting as crap. XD


a lot of my least favorites have already been said, especially Lymle... stoned autistic broad. However, the only real example of a voice so annoying that it shattered my ability to enjoy a game was from an old PS2 title called "Samurai Legend Musashi"

the lead character's voice sounded like a child going through puberty while trying to imitate the voice of Goofy Goof. >.< It's a shame because most of the game's voice cast was solid.

I met her. That was one of the fastest game quits i've ever had. She made it hurt to play.

Oh, yeah, the asshole who talks to me before and after missions as I try to do anything in Payday 2. It would be fine if the mission objectives matter, but I haven't yet had a mission that didn't come down to, 'shoot dudes, throw bags'.

Star Ocean's a good game, except for Lymle. Did you try Japanese voices? Maybe she's less obnoxious.

But to name a few specific someones that comes to mind at the moment:

¤ Three Dog from Fallout 3. Had to turn the radio off completely after a while, or at least find another channel. His voice GRATES. He wasn't that bad in person IIRC but on the radio? NOPE.
¤ Brother from Final Fantasy X and X-2. Truth be told, I'd be hard pressed to find ANY voice actor I liked in either of those games. Well, except for the Hypellos. "Shaaaave me!"
¤ Lydia from Skyrim. I like Lydia. But if I have to hear, "I'm sworn to carry your burdens" in that narky voice one more time...

Less specific ones:
¤ Most children characters in every JRPG I've ever played. Infinite Undiscovery gets a special mention.
¤ Most teenage female voices in every JRPG I've ever played. Plz act/sound your age kthxbai
¤ EVERYONE in (at least) the first 20 minutes of The Witcher. (Couldn't play past sexing up Triss.) Some of the flattest and deadest deliveries I've ever heard. In all the languages. (or at least the 8 I went through trying to find one I could live with.)

(P.S. I'm kinda ridiculously picky when it comes to voice acting.)

I can't fucking stand Murray and Bentley from the Sly Cooper games. In the first game Bentleys voice was extremely loud(could've been a fault with the HD release) and drilled holes in my ears. After that he kept annoying me through the next two games.
Murray didn't bother me until the second game, when he begun going on about how fucking awesome he was. Quickly begun hating his voice with a passion as well.

Also pretty much all child voices in any game.

I can name a voice actor: Nolan North, he is just all around terrible.
Picking one specific role though is even easier. The male Jedi councilor from SWTOR was completely and utterly agonizing. The characters tone was nothing less than schizophrenic with no middle ground and lacked cohesion. I've played games and watched anime with bad voice acting, but I actually deleted the character because I couldn't stand listening to him anymore.
