Probably Tidus from FFX. It was a great game but all the whining and sooking that he did really detracted from it in the end. I had a little respect for him by the end with his determination to not let Yuna die but he was still one hell annoying main character
the voice didn't help yuna annoyed me a lot because of the voice actress.
Tidus sure did have one annoying whiny voice. Yuna was better, she had sort of an innocent quality with a voice like that (I'm also probably thinking that as the story was geared around her being the innocent summoner that is going to die). Whoever voiced Auron had that character spot on though
i lost interest in ff games when the characters werent relate able or the voice cast is very bad...tidus dad pissed me off as well...lulu was good
One of my friends believes after FFVII and FFVIII they had a formula and just stuck to it, neglecting innovation in the process. FFX was a rehashing of that formula but even then it was still likable. It's also why FFXII was such a poor game in comparison to the rest of the series, you didn't feel empathy for the characters or their situation as you'd seen it all before and they were nothing new or special. Prehaps FFXIII can remedy this
we can only wait and see...

That whiney Frenchy prick from Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge pisses me off whenever his mouth opens. Thank god he get taken care of in the first section of the game, because if they'd've kept him any longer, I don't think I'd have played beyond Arixo (or w/e the Arizona-deserty-level was).

And for all the character-hate several FFVII charries received, two have slipped my eyes so far: Cait Sith, and Yuffie. I think the whiney little ninja ***** outranks the former because, sadly, for all her whineyness and just pure I-want-to-fucking-throw-you-into-a-volcano-and-watch-you-burn-*****, she is actually a decent addition, whereas with the latter I think its possible to abandon 'him' (as I'm unsure of the gender) to rot >.>

Anyhow, where's my list, dammit... pretty much, I have a dislike for any character that has a cheesy-ass French accent in a video game. This would include, but not be limited to: Raphael from Soul Caliber, those queer brothers that keep showing up in the Shadow Hearts series, Steve Burnside from RE: Code Veronica/CV X, and so on. Also, I have to admit that, for all the quirkiness he brings, Frank Goldfinger from Shadow Hearts: From the New World just... gah x-x I can't... stand... him.... I know everything in that series borderlines upon weird, but come on X-X

Why does everyone hate Navi so much? She barely says anything unless it's to help you and most of the times she flies around quietly...

Dogmeat. That god dammed, retarded dog, always rushing in the kill the HORDES of old olney death claws, getting himself killed, and because I actually want him, I reload the game. Now, I let him rot in vault 101.

Lenna from Drak Messiah. You spend the enitre game listening to her talk about how much she loves you but you never get anything out of it no matter how many times you save her.
i also hate any character with a tortured past that they would rather not talk about, then going on to drop massive hints that they want you to slowly wheedle bits of info out of them.
Im looking at you Carth Onassi! And You Anton! Its not just The kotor series but they are the most obvious

The annoying little kid that joins your party in every JRPG ever.

Every JRPG has him/her, and they are always even more annoying than they are completely unnecessary.

Zelos from tales of symphonia I go through the trouble of killing him in the first one and then it turns out that that ending is not canon, so i have to deal with him in the second game.

I can see how Navi gets the most votes. We have very varied perceptions of what makes a good character, but few humans don't find hearing the same words being repeated over and over by a loud and high pitched annoying. Heck, just hearing the same words being repeated over and over is annoying even if it doesn't come from a loud and high pitched voice. I will also add that the only way of silencing Navi of that's always viable is to read her hints.

Anyway, other annoying characters I can think of are Tidus, Rinoa and Lilia (from Arc TotS.) They represent how I don't want characters to be written.

Squall (FF8). "Oh, I'll just stand here and be emo while watching the evil guys complete their evil scheme and letting them run right past me when they need to get away"

Runner up is Issun (Okami) "We made this puzzle so brain dead easy that even an idiot like you can beat it but since you may be an even bigger idiot than we thought here's a sidekick who will repeatedly bash your face right into the solution"

Imoen, from Baldur's Gate 2. In BG1 she wasn't that annoying, but in BG2, oh my god... I desperately wanted to kill her pestering, insecure little emo ass and then consume her corpse. But the game wouldn't let me destroy her. What the Hell were the writers thinking?? That stupid little drama queen interrupted your gaming every five minutes because she was scared and wanted to talk about her goddamn childhood and her goddamn fear of mages and about her goddamn.. well, whatever, it didn't matter why, she just broke in on your play.

"Oh, a stick in our path! I had a dream about sticks and my soul was tormented by a djinn that forced me to live in a gilded cage littered with the detritus of long-dead memories while wizards pointed their hideous gnarled fingers at my despair and inner inadequacies and laughed! Oh woe is me, I wish I could just die! Have you've seen a stick like this before?"

Grr...
