Treat you like shit when you work harder than everyone else in the... oh... game bosses... right... um. That damn turtle or whatever in Final Fantasy XII that would boost it's defense half way through was annoying. Also, probably instant kill attacks, or insane amounts of HP with time limits (I'm looking at you Emerald Weapon). Actually, come to think of it... anything that either Emerald or Ruby weapon did.

This one's specific to Mortal Kombat (2011), flinch-proof shields. They're given to Goro, Kintaro, and Shao Kahn and I f*****g HATE these shields. You can hit them three times in the time that it takes for them to swing one punch, but that one punch is gonna hit you. What's even worse than that is when it's the beginning of the match, because that single blow is going to count as the "first attack" and give these monsters a bonus.

Zeromus fit's in that category too. The last minute switch out's are aggravating from a storyline point of view, at least that's how I see it.

Thank goodness for that. Thought I was the only person in the world who, unless I got the metal box, nearly had genuine palpitations at the thought of having to go anywhere near that thing.

As for annoying boss things; I don't mind healing as long as it's explained, and I don't mind instant death as long as there's warning. Inadequate checkpoints and unblockable and instantly repeatable stun attacks are the worst though. Also, ANYTHING Jinpachi does on Tekken 5.

i cant beleive i am going to say this but when minions spawn independantly of the boss. So Fallout NV i have come to kill the legate, but ur centerions form a litteral meat sheild around you. Protecting you from damage. While throwing incindeary grenades. That knock me down. Then have the meat sheild beats me to death with sticks. Did i mention it also spawns snipers.

As many have said, bosses that can heal are always a pain in the ass. As the man said, it's demoralizing.

Funnily enough, bosses that spawn minions never really annoys me. I just see it as more things to kill.

Any boss that has a time limit on the fight is an instant annoyance. I like to fight at my own pace and tend to make stupid mistakes when i feel rushed.
This, though, is always annoying. I agree, I like to fight at my own pace. This also applies to underwater boss fights, since you usually have limited air. Different name, same result, an artificial timer.

Having the boss hit you repeatedly once your down, giving you no chance to recover until you're character is dead. Believe me, this has happened on some occasions and it was very very VERY annoying.

When I read the thread title I thought why is this in the games section?? Oh wait they meant vidio games bosses. *head desk*

Spam knockdowns/stuns. Especially if they can do it again before you can do anything about it.

Also high on the list.
Fight ends with QTE?s especially if its a game that hasn't really used QTE's so you don't expect them.
If it spends most of its time invulnerable
Summon minions.

I hate bosses that are supposed to kill you, and/or are unbeatable.
But yeah, despite having been said ad infinitum: health regeneration, minions, 1 hit kills, and especially long boss monologues mid fight.

There's just so many to choose from that I can't decide, I mean there is:
1) Summoning minions
2) Stunlocking
3) Unblockable and/or difficult to avoid high damage attacks
4) Lasting an extended period of time (it's annoying enough dying to a boss, it gets frustrating when that means at least half an hour of your time goes right down the drain as well)

But if I had to pick one, I'd say minions. It's usually hard enough to just focus on the boss, now I have to deal with his annoying little mates now too?

Stun spam followed up by massive damage.

Massive damage spam that out damages your healing.

Utterly outclassing you making it impossible to win so that you have to start back a few saves just before you enter his 4 hour dungeon so you can level up and gather epic items before the fight this time.

And my Favorite in MMORPGS. Bosses resetting MID FIGHT.

I want to say healing (that restores anywhere from half to full) or invincibility that last way too long (longer than 30 seconds).

Spawning minions that look alot like the boss so you end up shooting at the wrong ones.
Played the Diablo 2 expansion? Baal also teleports so that you can't just keep your eye on the right one.

Fire you.

Oh your not talking about that type of boss?

Well, i guess the OP has it on the nose, Spawn Minions and heal, mainly both at the same time. Either that or just a hard to dodge 1 hit kill, which reminds me of the Final Boss in Brawl Subspace Emissionary (You might not find it hard to dodge, but my brother and i weren't exactly the "Pro Gamers" so we didn't dodge/block often, or at all.)

Getting hit with back to back boss fights and having the boss heal him/herself or have a second(and sometimes third health bar/battle phase) are the top two most annoying things that a boss can do.
It is so frustrating to slog your way through one boss battle, use up your most powerful attacks and most potent healing items, thinking that you'll have a small break afterwards to heal and (hopefully) rearm/resupply only to get thrown into a second boss battle right away. Ninja Gaiden II did that at least twice that I can remember.
