Halo Reach's television adverts claim that their game is the "Most Anticipated Release of 2010." ... Really? Star Craft 2 sold more than 1 million copies in 24 hours, and in one week, it's already out-sold Star Craft 1's entire 12-year sales. Is Halo Reach going to have even nearly the same numbers?

Halo 3 also broke 1,000,000 on its first day.
ODST most likely did as well.

I would not be surprised in the least if Reach breaks that.

Halo: Reach will probably be more popular in the USA, but world-wide, StarCraft 2 is going to sell far better. In South Korea, each person has to have their own copy. It's like a law or something.

A side note, I wasn't anticipating either game. I'm not an RTS fan, and Halo doesn't excite me that much anymore. I'm more looking towards Vindictus and Star Wars: The Old Republic for the more immediate time-frame. Arkham Asylum and Mass Effect 3 are still a ways away.

I'm only really anticipating MMOs right now for some reason. FPS has gotten a bit stale to me of recent.

well as the marine in the original teaser for starcraft 2 said "Hell, its about time" the whole anticipation lasted over a decade. Yet Halo is a crazy popular series. So im unsure about this, guess ill have to wait and see how many copies Reach sells on day one.

StarCraft 2 for sure is the most anticipated, people have been waiting for it for a long time. The last Halo came out a year or two ago, it's not that anticipated.

I know for a fact Reach has more preorders ALREADY which means they can rightfully say more people were waiting for Reach.

its not about how many people anticipated it, its about how HARD they anticipated it :p
in that case starcraft 2 wins for sure.

I honestly don't care what's more "anticipated". Starccraft 2 has been wanted for a longer time than Halo Reach, that's for sure. On the hype scale, they're pretty matched. Starcraft 2 is not only an RTS, but one only available for PC, so it's not really a competition with the 360-exclusive Reach. I'd still buy SC2 over Shooty McAsshole Episode 5 any day.

I'm positive Halo will sell more. FPS is just easier to get into, and I have a feeling there are more people who would shell out for a console exclusive rather than a PC one.

Personally, however, the years of waiting for some more Starcraft = more anticipation.

Having not played Halo, I refuse to join the bandwagon spouting hate. I see many people doing the same for Starcraft, and just don't understand that sort of behavior. Let people play what *they* enjoy. One's opinion of popular appeal shouldn't factor into things if you can't at least give it a shot.

I mean I know this is off topic, but I am too, it's crazy.

But more on topic, Halo: Reach is a game that cannot be stopped from giving every Bungie employee enough money to buy a golden house in a secret European country. It will sell, and it will sell a lot (obvious observation is obvious).

Too bad everyone doesn't share your thoughts on this matter.

Halo:Reach. Last Halo Bungie Game. More Popular than Starcraft.

Yes, I think so. Also, VS Threads are not welcome. Even though I really want them...
