Most boring game you've ever played.

It's probably the biggest insult you can give a game: calling it boring. I mean games are most of all made to entertain, and yet there's some games that are about as exciting as staring at the ceiling on a Monday morning at work.

I've been playing Farcry 2 lately (enjoying Farcry 3 made me interested in giving this game a try), and.... yeah. I mean sometimes even a boring game can have its charms, and I guess the whole mercenary in the Savannah thing got me interested. But, everything about the game is dull: the shooting, story (or lack there of), everything. I spend half the time running from mission to mission, and they're about as intriguing as an MMO fetch quest. I guess the game still has some charm since I've been playing it for about 3 hours now. But it's that dull and boring sense of charm, like listening to really slow and melo music that puts you to sleep.

I really don't think I've ever been more bored with a game. Oblivion comes to mind (at least for me) but I think this game even tops that.

Dragon Age.

Nothing good about this game. I honestly cant find ONE good thing about it. Its all a challenge.

Anyways I have ranted about this one game QUITE a lot, no more of this is needed. Its basically dull as hell. Even shitty flash games can beat it by a fair difference.

I never got what people enjoy so much about games like the Sim-city series or the Tychoon games. I find them very boring.

I realize that games like Skyrim or Dragon Age aren't for everyone, but really? The MOST boring?

With all due respect, GTAIV. And I say this because it simply is, at times; as much havoc as I'd like to wreck or traffic laws I wish to follow, its immersion factor just never seems to rise above the very threshold of engrossment -- in other words, it just feels too 'distant'.

And yet, it's not by any means a bad game. It's a technical behemoth and employs numerous game mechanics to a rather cohesive whole, and most essentially it has an excellently woven storyline starring GTA's most rounded protagonist yet.

In the end, though, the overall sum does not better the potency of its parts, I'm afraid. But then again, this is just my opinion.

This is my answer as well. I think it's natural to expect a GTA game to provide a variety of things, but boredom really isn't one of them. Yet, for me, this is all GTA4 provided. Every moment of my time with the game just felt like a chore. I honestly couldn't even figure the game as bad or good because it never really registered any emotion with me at all.

I think it's important to emphasis the "You've ever played" part of the title here. People generally avoid games they hear are bad but these two were both hyped and received much praise so it's more likely they played those instead of whatever shitty game you find in the bargin bin.

Speaking of which, skyrim might be mine but I'll probably think of something worse later. I just find no motivation to do anything in that game as the world feels so empty of human life, all the quests are utterly predictable and the combat, while much stronger then oblivion, can hardly carry the game on its own. I like open world games but walking and horse riding are just dull for me. Fallout 3 had the same feeling so yeah, those two.

Picking the boringest game? It is so hard to choose. Kind of going into a hors d'oeuvre tasting competition and choices are shit, shit on a cracker and shit on a toast.

I would like to nominate almost everything between the years 2001-2009 with special mention for non-indie Playstation games before and after that period. It's so boring, it's like watching TV.

Dead Space. Yes, I know, jump scares and all but my god it was tedious and generic. GTA IV, yeah. Battlefield: Bad Company 2, also. Just boring.

I don't care how much artistic symbolism and back narrative or whatever it has, this was the most boring game I've ever played. Therefore, it's also the worst. Bad games like superman 64 at least have hilarious levels of non-effort and glitches to laugh at. Games like this, though, merely pack in as much bullshit symbolism and a generic backstory to give it the appearance of being deep to lure in every internet professor it can to write essay reviews about all of the "Hidden meanings" and shit it supposedly has. Only, it doesn't actually have any meanings. The essay reviewers merely come up with them. Why? Well, why put actual meanings to your symbolism when you could just make it vague and have the players do the work? Makes sense. Not to mention the meanings the players come up with are all relevant to their own lives, generating a bunch of false resonance or relatability or something.

That's all fine, though. Why? Well, different people different tastes. As long as nobody goes and insults me for enjoying call of duty, I will gladly let you frolic in your land of vague symbolism to your heart's content.

I would have said this, but I just played the game Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine. Holy hell how do you make that boring? Just dull I didn't even get trough it.

Sins of a Solar Empire.

I fell asleep playing it. There's just so much WAITING. Wait for my ships to get into position to jump, wait for them to jump, wait for them to arrive, wait wait wait wait wai- zzzzzzzzz

It just doesn't hold my attention, unlike GalCiv2 or Endless Space.

KoToR. Please don't hit me!

The game has a lot of great aspects, but when it comes to the actual gameplay, it literally just puts me to sleep.

I really wish I could get through it though.

Ninety Nine Nights. Horde comes, you hack and slash them and repeat that a couple of 100 times.

Dear Esther
The game where you walk along a path for half and hour while having a narrator read disjointed sound bites to you until you jump off a tower and turn into a bird. My god, I'm getting bored just thinking about it.

Seconded. Or even just the Sims in general. The routine it tries to force you on keeping these people functional day after day was painful.

Dragon Age had plenty of interesting things to see if you're willing to put visceral action behind the story and setting.
