woke up to a bobcat licking my sleeping bag while camping. my idiot friend had spilled hot chocolate the night before, and some of it hit my sleeping bag... guess i didn't get it entirely clean before going to sleep.

not sure who was more scared: me seeing the bobcat licking the sleeping bag that i was currently occupying, or the bobcat when i sat up. lol... good times.

;-)

Seen a couple black bears in my time. Also deer, rattlesnakes, and coyotes. Living in the boonies has its advantages from time to time I suppose.

I've seen black bears and American alligators on multiple occasions. I'm not sure which is more dangerous, but I'll venture a guess that it all depends on how big the individual bear or gator is.

Fun fact: I've actually held a juvenile alligator. It was pretty cool.

I don't really travel to exotic places much, but yellowjackets (wasps that resemble skinny bees) are pretty nasty. Even if you try to touch one, they'll probably sting you. Even if you save them from drowning in the pool, they'll try to sting you if they're kept alive.

There are also supposed to be coyotes around here in the woods, and I think I've heard them before. However, I haven't actually seen one. I've seen wolves in a reservation before, but that doesn't count according to the OP.

I live in Ireland. The deadliest animal I've ever seen is like, a cow.
Don't laugh - those motherfuckers crush bitches left, right and centre!

A crocodile, while in America. Apart from that there are virtually no dangerous wild animals in Ireland (not including enraged Leprechauns) so the most dangerous wild animal I have seen locally would be a bull.
You sure it was a crocodile, not an alligator? Crocodiles are pretty rare; they've only recently been downgraded from "endangered" to "threatened".

Honestly, there isn't much difference between the two; an alligator is pretty much just a crocodile with a fatter face. I was just wondering, because if it was actually an American crocodile, you're a lucky man, as few people get the chance to see one in the wild.

Diamondback Rattlesnake in Texas.
Bear and mountain lion in the Appalachian.
Alligator and shark in Florida.

The mountain lion was the closest. But it absolutely was not interested in me.

I was in Australia once traveling around cairns and I saw a cassowary... It was only after the event that I realized how dangerous they are.

Brown recluse
Black widow
Diamondback Rattlesnake

I think that's about all I've seen in the wild. Not very impressive.

An adult bull moose.

They may be herbivores but you're crazy if you don't think they're dangerous. I've also seen black bears, American alligators, and I believe a bobcat.

That's not venom. [http://www.cracked.com/article_19184_the-8-most-disgusting-animal-defenses.html]
Actually it is venom. [http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/05/090518-komodo-dragon-venom.html]

Cracked is a lot of fun but it's not uncommon for their articles to have out-of-date or just plain incorrect information. For example the "goat" in the 8 Filthy Jokes Hidden in Ancient Works of Art article isn't a goat at all, it's a bonnacon - a mythological creature that you can find in many medieval bestiaries. The bonnacon itself is something of a filthy joke but it's hardly hidden.

This'll probably repeat a few answer people have given, but I've seen both Black Widow and Brown Recluse spiders, as well as a Black Emperor Scorpion (I don't know if it's dangerous, but it looks a bit unnerving). And, possibly the most dangerous animal in the world, I've seen a very pissed off house cat that was trying to avoid a bath.

Mine would have to be an Elephant - at perhaps 2 car-lengths away while working in Uganda. However, also saw lots of Hippos and they kill more people each year than any of the big 5.
