I've started re-watching my Firefly dvds and I got to wondering, who do y'all think is the most dangerous character on both the series and the movie?

It's got to be River.
A crazy girl who can kick your ass into next week?
I don't know if you can get much more dangerous.

I doubt anyone will give an answer different than River.

I guess maybe the Reavers... but then again she kicked their ass in the movie

If Simon isn't around, then River.

Otherwise, Jayne.
I personally think that Mal is the most all around dangerous character followed by River, in certain situations.

Captain Malcolm Reynolds.

If he believes 'he or his' are in danger or in anyway threatened he has no problem pulling his gun or using his fists. Even in the face of overwhelming odds he keeps going until there is no more to give. He has loads of experience and uses any and all tricks in the book...and then some that aren't in the book.

Jayne only puts in effort if there is something in it for him and it has to be a lot.
River is strong and dangerous but she is unreliable.
Zoë is strong, fast and carries a shotgun but she is a follower not a leader.

Well, it really depends on how you define "dangerous."

I sure as hell wouldn't want to get on the bad side of any of Serenity's crew, but that's just it. Mal and Zoe are only dangerous if you piss 'em off enough.

River goes psycho pretty much and random and Jayne is just...Jayne.

We all love Jayne, the super-dangerous one in the crew is Inara. Think about it.

She has training that can put both sexes off their guard.
She's well-trained to fight and is definitely good at using guns as well.
She has status, which means she has the power to make people's lives miserable, and it's legal.

Jayne, River, and Mal are awesome, but any one of them can fall prey to her if she needed to do things to them. I think Saffron is a good example of what a Companion can do to you when they've gone bad, save for the fact that Inara's training is actually better.

River. She survived a roomful of Reavers without so much as a scratch, and probably would have given those armed soldiers a run for their money had it come down to "undue fussing". lol

On the crew I would say:
1st River, when shes crazy
2nd Shepherd Book, seriously what kind of preacher knows how to fight like that, fire guns accurately enough to kneecap but be assured he's not killing anyone and shoot down spaceship. Add in the comics where he decapitates a robot with a sword. The only thing restricting his badassery is his religon. We never find out his back story but I assume he was something similar to the Agent in Serenity, because of his no questions asked high clearance with the alliance.
3rd Mal while maybe not as strong or fast as Zoey or Jayne, he's got a dog like determination and a lot of cunning, that enables him to take on the Agent and win.
4th Zoey, simply as shes smarter and more subtle than Jayne
5th Jayne pure amount of firepower and brawn
6th Hard choice but Inara, she's good with a bow and fights Saffron quite well
7th Simon, as he is in the series he's pretty much a pussy-cat, however some of the thing he does plan and do are pretty ballsy, breaking his sister out and planning the hospital raid.
8th Wash, close behind Inara, fights well enough when rescuing Mal, shown to pack a gun in Heart of Gold
9th Kaylee

2-5 are pretty close, a definite step above the rest, 6-8 are quite close as well.

Of course:
The Agent, Juble Early and Saffron are very dangerous.

The Bounty Hunter.

Bounty Hunter's even calm and badass when he's completely screwed.
Saffron was scary, because I know I wouldn't have been man (also known as Malcom Reynolds) enough to resist her advance and would probably go to the "special hell". I loved Early he was such a strange and unique villain, I would have loved to seen a spin-off (or at least a story) with him and Saffron teamed up.

Physically and mentally river is the only answer. She's outsmarted every other character on the show and as far as physicially, well no contest. Inara is a great answer too whoever said that is really thinking outside the box. Simon is underrated though. He did spring River from that freakshow alliance testing facility which is no small feat. I'd have to say Jayne is a contender because he's so unpredictible and more quick minded than he lets on. He's dangerous if you let yourself think you've outsmarted him. Certainly wash is no threat to anyone, unless he's piloting the serenity. God I am such a geek.

River can get owned by that weird phrase Simon said in the bar (in the movie). Therefore, I just can't say she's the most dangerous.

Jayne is pretty tough but not especially smart. Still, I can't say he's ever been beaten, especially when he's got Vera by his side.

Mal and Zoe were both on the losing side of the war, and Wash ended up with a huge stake in his chest. Book was intriguing, but ended up dead anyways (sadly). So none of them are a good answer

Yeah, I guess I'd say Jayne. But that's a really good question.

wow you guys all are missing the ones who are the most powerful above river, those crazy guys in the blue gloves, they had the power to control and contain her and could kill you with a little blue glow stick that made you bleed everywhere

River, definately.

On a somewhat related note, who else thinks the mechanic is dead, reborn, and dead again sexy?

I'd say River, but Saffron's a close second there: I mean look what she pulled off in Our Mrs. Reynolds. Plus, Christina Hendricks is my hero.

I'd say Mal, simply because if he believes in something he will not stop until it is achieved.
