As previously noted - Requiem for a Dream.

Also:
- The Rules of Attraction - my local video store files it under "comedy" but
about halfway through, a minor character who is only ever in the background of the other scenes she appears in, gets a scene all to herself. She slits her wrists in the bath, and the camera stays on her face right to the very end.
That fucked me up for 3 solid months.

- Spanking The Monkey - again, classified as a comedy - and moreover a comedy about a guy getting frustrated because he can't have any privacy to have a crafty wank - but it all just gets so very fucked up.

Yes, he truly is the greatest practitioner of the arts of our generation, isn't he?

The dome represents the inescapable limitations of life that all humans are subject to.

Pretty deep, huh?

It would have been a bajillion times better, though, if
Will Ferrell's character actually died instead of the director taking the Disney ending and making the writer of the book change the absolute most perfect ending.
Just like if no one actually spoke in Wall-E - would have been soooo much better, as awesome as it is already.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that the both of these movies would have had a larger impact if this is how they were executed. Stranger than Fiction especially. Now it's just a kind of forgettable movie in the long run.

And Frodo should have died and Sam should have taken the ring to the end... even if it's not in the book that way.
I'll be honest and say that I haven't read the book, but in the movie, Sam was already on his way down the mountain... why the hell did he go back? I know that he knew it was the ring that was making Frodo act like a douche, but still.

The Mist. I felt so depressed after watching that movie I tried to call in to work, but...

Turned out three other people before me clled in, and the person answering my call-in gave me so much grief about calling in that I changed my mind and went to work anyway. I'm sad just thinking about it.

Spoiler warnings for fuck sake guys.

I cannot type what I shouted at you after reading the post, because I'd be banned.
Oh shit, I forgot about spoilers. I'm terribly sorry about that, and would've spoiler'ed it if I remembered about them. Apologies.

The Butterfly Effect, the only way everyone he knew could have a happy life, was if he were never born. Godamn that is the most depressing message a movie could ever deliver. Sometimes people just arent meant to be born, and you should be aborted if you are one of them.

So, like the title says, what is the movie that after you were done watching it made you feel the most emo. The movie that made you for a day forget about all the good things in life.

Aronofsky's Requiem For A Dream
and
Black Swan

If you want to feel completely depressed about how harsh the world can be then those 2 movies are it.

God, I still can't get over Requiem for a Dream.
i approve this!
Yeah I saw the trailer for Eden Lake.....wow. Just F*cking WOW. It's like Peter Pan and the Lost Boys gone wrong.

Plus I remember watching the mist. Talk about a movie that made you wanna die at the end. Great over all movie
That and Never Let me Go. It was just so bleak, depressing and sad. They wanted something more with their life and couldn't have it....

A.I: Artificial Intelligence. And this was a kids' movie....

Secondly,

Black Swan. And don't just watch it for Natalie Portaman and Mila Kunis making out - no, seriously, don't. This movie had me crying for ages.

I remember watching Pan's Labyrinth a few years ago. I've not seen it since - mainly because I've ran out of emergency tissues.
Black Swan Destroyed me, typical of a movie by Aronofsky though.

It was just so damn shattering though. She realizes she's delusional and you think it's all going to be alright and then the END hits and when she smiles and says "I was Perfect" I broke down constantly whispering "no".

"Bent"- without a doubt. I cried harder during/after/years after than any other movie- even Bambi. Seriously amazing film that I can never watch again in my lifetime; it would be too much for me to take.

The second part, I Am So Proud of You, is especially shattering. It's not on Youtube though.

American History X
That ending gets me every time. After the character comes of age, the vicious cycle continues in the worst way possible. And the worst part is that the movie is realistic; that shit happens every day.

As for a game, a sad ending would be if everyone died in Mass Effect 2. That would devastate me.

For the love of GOD, "Apocalypse Now".

I mean, Jesus FUCKING Christ, that movie was like weaponized sadness. I'm not even sure why, I just felt dead after watching it.
