Most Depressing Place Names

Skegness. Yeah...

In England how nice a place is is inversely proportionate to how nice a name it has. Skegness and Blackpool both have awful sounding names but are nice seaside resorts, Daisy Meadows(I can only think of a local example) however is an extremely rough area full of crime.

What are you on about? Blackpool is horrible!

The road signs leading there have all been defaced by delinquents painting out all the letters that dont spell ****.

Far worse would be Dudley or Wolverhampton... Full of Yam Yams. There's a reason there are no Yam Yam celebrities, suicide rates would rocket haveing to listen to that god forsaken dialect.

Can you imagine an attractive woman whispering sweet nothings as a yam yam? Didn't think so.

Also in my state is a town called "Intercourse." The irony is that it's smack dab in the middle of Amish country.

There's a town in Sweden called "Hosta", which means "cough" in swedish.

Also, the swedish comic called "Hälge" takes place in and around the fictitious village "Avliden", which is swedish for "deceased". (it's a pun, see, the suffix -liden is quite common for place names in sweden)
