Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts. What a mother fucker he is. I never managed to beat him, but I plan to give it another shot with the HD version.

The final boss of Lost Planet 1 on the hardest difficulty. The last stage is so different from the rest of the game and the boss is retarded. Sooo powerful and the fact that your health constantly drains doesn't help matters at all.
Haha yeah the Lost Planet final boss was crazy. Fighting in the sky with laser sword wielding robots.

He is really bastard... maxing all your characters to even have a chance of beating him is annoying and he can kill you pretty much whenever he wants.

The strategy to beating him is also very much luck based and you cannot go in the fight with any advantage whatsoever.

Xenoblade Chronicles:
Disciple Loritha is easily one of the hardest, most broken boss fights I've ever encountered, especially because of the acid pools and gas clouds.

I don't know if he's the most difficult boss, but he definitely is frustrating -- Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 9.

GOD DAMN THAT X RAY IS RIDICULOUS

Big Arm in the standalone cartridge/game of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Not only does he have a small hit box, but he is the only robot that Eggman/Robotnik has made that can grab you as Super Sonic and cause you to lose your rings and your Super Sonic form.

They nerfed him greatly when you fight him as Knuckles in Sonic 3 and Knuckles and he was nerfed even more in Sonic Generations. XD

Now KH Sephiroth I can agree with. I never beat him in II and it wasn't for lack of trying.
My heart goes out to this guy:

That boss is nothing compared to the one in the first game, and the Enigmatic Soldier in Final Mix + is even worse.

This fucking guy.

I can't even remember anymore, my rage has clouded the memory. All I recall is endless respawns and a grab attack that he usually used at the very beginning of the fight that was virtually unavoidable where he'd grab you, chomp your fucking torso, then smash you into the wall, that would take out the majority of your health.

I only beat him because eventually I got lucky and he didn't use the grab right away.

I honestly don't understand what is going on in these videos. It's just standing there doing nothing. I remember the damn thing being so overly aggressive that I expected Ryu must've done it a great personal wrong. From what it looks like in the comments on the video, other people had the same experience.

Sephiroth is way harder in the first one. One big reason being that there was no, "Press Triangle To Beat His Ass" option.

Oh I know, I had a harder time in my Let's Play of Final Mix against Sephiroth than the Unknown. Sephiroth I was level 100 when I beat and I still barely beat him. I was on Final Mix Proud though so he was even harder then. >.<

Alma, Ninja Gaiden. First time you have to fight her. Could not beat her on Hard. it haunts me to this day...
Can I ask which version you were playing? In the original Ninja Gaiden for Xbox both of her fights (the second one is much harder) are really easy cuz you can just spam your Flying Swallow attack to kill every boss in the game.

However, Ninja Gaiden Black (and later Sigma for PS3) nerfed the Flying Swallow so it hits usually about 1/10th of the time you use it, making Alma and Spirit Doku frigging annoying as all hell to beat until you know what you're doing.

I see several people have already mentioned the first to come to my mind- Boost Guardian in Metroid Prime 2. Thus I'll bring up another one that I've actually never beaten- Zophar in Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, 2nd form.

'Bah!', you say. 'Non-bonus RPG bosses are easy because you can always just level grind until you're powerful enough to beat them!'. No. No you cannot. Because going into Zophar's castle is a one-way ticket. No shops to resupply, and nothing that restores MP and the item cap for everything is 15 if you try to max out beforehand. There are a lot of regular and mini-boss battles on the way to the top floor which will most likely deplete your stock somewhat. Finally, like all other bosses in this series he gets increases in attack power and HP the higher your own levels are.

Furthermore, no amount of grinding will ever give you enough HP to survive his single-target 'laughing' attack (4-digit damage in a game with a 3-digit HP limit; at least his animations telegraph it). He is the only boss in the game to consist of five separately-acting portions (even the five-headed dragon boss from earlier only got one action per round), and each portion has more HP than any other boss up to that point. On average two of them use powerful all-hitting spells while the other parts will either hit you for medium damage, heal the head or DRAIN YOUR MP TO ZERO. And only one of your party members is a dedicated healer! If he is drained or killed by the 'laughing' attack, at least one of your other four party members will probably die before you can use an item to revive/restore his MP and get back to healing. If you're out of them... you dead.

Need more proof? There's exactly one video on Youtube of someone beating him. It's split up into 5 parts (fitting) and around part 3, three out of five of the guy's party members are dead and he's spamming the rarest revival items in the game just to be able to keep up with all the damage. Finally, he's completely invincible for the first six rounds or so for plot reasons. But he still attacks you, albeit only with two of the limbs and not as strongly as when the real fight starts. GREAT uplifting battle theme, but the hardest battle I've seen in an RPG. I've managed to kill one or two of the limbs occasionally, but always run out of steam before being able to deliver the coup de grace to the head and the remaining pieces.
