as i mentioned in my Majora's Mask thread (and will probably be disagreed with by a few) but the ending to MM was disappointing. DAWN OF A NEW DAY! fine but goes gradually downhill from there. particularly then end of the ending, seemed stupid to me. tried to be philosophical but failed.

Skulduggery Pleasant... Dark Days, I think it was. The one before the most recent one.
Phew, that was close, we just stopped that guy killing hundreds of people. Might as well go back to our big, secret sanctuary and tell all our friends that OH GOODNESS, now this place is being blown up, how did this happen?! Then some guy's legs get burnt off. Then the book ends.
Way to end on a low there, Landy.

No Country for Old Men, a movie that followed the main characters' conflict and action only to have the climax happen off screen!
Coen brothers' films often are this way: there isn't usually a happy/satisfying ending. They kind of just show you a sequence of uncomfortable events, and after a couple of hours the credits roll, and you probably still have a couple of questions, but at least you enjoyed the ride, right?

It's a storytelling form best explained by a run-on sentence...

Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers is a touching and gripping story set in Vietnam, it follows a group of American soldiers as they fight and die in a far off land. The second to last scene has the narrater and main supporting character trapped in a foxhole, with the enemy trying to find them. They are cut off, their entire squad could be dead. Both are injured and the support character is bleeding out. Then they walk out and a helicopter just happens to be coming for another support character who they save and live happily ever after.

i think to many stories have sucky endings lately, inceptions ending was just a cop-out, every resident evil film ending ever haha the book rosemary girls was a really good story, but the ending just seemed rushed, cant think of anymore off top of my head, (but im sure there is a list as long as my arm)

It's not much of a disappointment, but more of an annoyance, how they changed the end of Portal. When I first saw it I thought it was the best thing I had ever seen if only because it confirmed a Portal 2, but ever since, I lose the elation I get from finishing Portal when I hear that voice and watch Chell get dragged away.

I also think it's a huge mistake to let anyone play Portal for the first time while it ends that way. You don't get any closure. All of your effort was for nothing.

I love Portal to death, but the new ending should take a hike.

The Dark Tower series
After several books searching for the Dark Tower, the main character is then sent back to the beginning of his journey with no memory of it. I enjoy a Greek tragedy like the next guy but come on!
But now he has the Horn! Everything will be different this time!

I hated the very end of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It's one of my favorite series of books I've ever read, but the last, I think, 3 pages make me want to just chuck the book across a room. I always thought it was such an idiotic and lame ending to such an awesome series. When I reread it I actually stopped right before it to not repeat the experience.
Have you listened to the final series of the radio version? It makes it all much better.
My only exposure to the whole thing is the novels themselves. I've never looked into anything else because I found that I honestly don't like much of what I've read outside Hitchhiker's that Douglas Adams wrote.
Just to check, you do mean the fifth book don't you? If so I would definitely listen to the the radio series - if you don't want to listen to all of it you can find you can find the last episode here [http://www.youtube.com/user/XistundTheBookKeeper#p/search/0/TRk456HHeB0]. It picks up from pretty much exactly the point at which the Earth was demolished. Some people thinks it's a bit saccharine sweet, but I thought it was a much more fitting ending to the whole thing.

The end of the Animorphs book series. a 50+ book series ends on a FUCKING CLIFFHANGER.

The last sentence of the book is, and I quote, "Prepare to ram the Blade Ship." That's it. The last chapter is then K.A. Applegate explaining how she's sad the series is over, and how she wanted to leave them fighting at the end.

No, just no. That is a cop-out. You just couldn't think of a good ending, so you decided to not write one.

After spending my september nights with a book in my hands for the first time in around 6 years, i loved the chronicles of narnia. What i didn't expect, was the most annoying and terrible ending to a book. Ever. Don't worry about wrapping up loose ends when the ENTIRE cast is DEAD. Even the old people. Oh, they just all happened to be riding the train of death at the same time did they? On top of that, the last book was a bit-completely shit.

Yes, the 5th novel, and you are right, that made me feel ever so much better about the whole thing. Thank you for making me now love everything about Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Its about how Bell failed though. Its the point of the movie. Watch it again.

My nomination is the ending of the book "A Clockwork Orange". If Burgess hadn't ever written to 21st chapter of that book, I'd be so much happier. Its soooo disappointing. It would be a much darker book if it wasn't included.
It is better with the 21st chapter. Alex changes and wants to become a functional citizen on his own and not through brainwashing. Without that chapter there is little learned and nothing gained. With it, it shows how any of us (no mater how "evil") can turn ourselves around.

The book is dark enough, let us give our humble narrator a potential future.

All of his books are god awful with endings. Look into the rest of the Hitchhiker series, every one makes you want to throw the book in the end. I was thinking of trying his detective stories, but I am gun shy of them because of HGttG.

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones didn't have a let down ending, but a sudden one. I finished the game in one sitting and was very disapointed that it ended. Felt the same way about the Sands of Time-game since the end boss was so simple it was laughable, but the game felt a bit longer.

The Triology HD collection for PS3 was totally worth 24 pounds however. Finished it in three days, but it was really fun three days!
