Disgusting what they did to such a good story...*gouges out eyes*
You thought the story was good? See, I never could... I read the two first books, but I just didn't find any appeal in them. Maybe because I was an avid Star Wars fan... I haven't seen the Eragon movie, though.

Miami Vice is the only movie I have ever fallen asleep watching in the cinema.

Crash with James Spader is pretty messed up....

*Big Summary*

Sound familiar?

Actually, yes it does. That other guy is right, it's a structure called "The Hero's Journey". It's set out in a book called "The Hero of a Thousand Faces" by Joseph Campbell. It's all about how most stories featuring a 'hero' fit into this exact profile. Not just movies or books, but myths, legends, even the story of Jesus (yeah, take that fundamentalist Christians, your Jesus is a metaphor for Luke Skywalker!) fits in perfectly. You should check out the book, it's really interesting.

Anyway, the reason Star Wars fits so perfectly into the pattern is that Joseph Campbell was literally sitting next to George Lucas on the set. So it would be much more accurate to say that Star Wars and Eragon both fit into a story telling pattern that is thousands of years old.

Hostel was needlessly disgusting, not so much for the gore, but the concept as well.
Most stuff like Hellraiser, Nightmare/Friday, etc, aren't really disgusting, just odd.
I've determined that horror is a truly dead art form as far as films are concerned. There isn't suspense anymore, just a sense of "Lets see how much blood and gore we can squeeze into 90 minutes". If you don't believe me, watch Saw ... any of them.

I'm not trying to beat the proverbial dead horse here, but I'll have to go for Twilight. Only movie that took me close to six hours to watch. It beat Titanic.

It wasn't about the gore per se, but rather the mushy, mushy stuff that uncomfortably oiled the screen with a mix of desperation and eagerness that just made me wanna stop, breathe, crack jokes with my brother (yeah, we, both guys, wanted to watch twilight and so we did), and then continue because there was just no way we could keep up with the thing. I'm not sure if it was disgusting, but it certainly felt that way somehow. I've had it easier with the movie BRAINDEAD or any of ... of The Dead movies.

Imprint

Said it before and I'll say it again. This movie takes 4 hours to watch, One and half hours to see the film 2 and half hours to get over what you just saw.
Annnnnnnd my curiosity is now sparked. Care to explain the plot in a brief summary?

Hard to say the what the most disgusting movie I've ever seen is. I've sat through so many including the Feast trilogy, Ichi The Killer, Imprint, Dead Alive, etc.

If I had to choose one it is The Audition an Asian horror/suspense movie directed by Takashi Miiki (think that's how his name is spelled). What makes the film so disturbing is the first hour is more like a drama romance film, then it suddenly turns into an acid trip, followed by one of the most disturbing torture scenes I've ever seen.

Hostel also disgusted me because I paid money to see that garbage. Once you see a Takashi Miiki film you realize the Hostel films are overrated and should have been direct to DVD. As for the Saw series its probably closest I'll come to watching torture porn made in America (yes that's the name of the genre).

The Thing, some of the best effects ever but damn was it gross!
The literal 'head-crab' and the inside-out dog haunted my childhood!
EDIT: Add Suicide Circle to the list as well. The effects didnt look that real but when the woman chopped her hand to pieces I nearly threw up...Eating a large meal at the time probably didnt help.

You do realise that Eragon never ripped off star wars right?
I could fly off into a massive fanboy rant here, but I shall instead content myself to give a plot summary.

A young farm boy finds a pair of droids a dragon egg in mysterious circumstances. The Evil Empire wants the egg back because if the Rebel Alliance Varden get hold of it, they could destroy the Empire. The farm boy teams up with a wise old wizard to take the egg to the rebels. Along the way he begins to learn the ways of the Force magic, and they meet Han Solo Murtagh, whose knowledge and experience is sure to help them on their journey. They get sidetracked and end up rescuing the princess from Darth Vader Durza, and then manage to escape to the rebel stronghold. In the process, however, Obi-Wan Brom is killed. In a climactic battle, the forces of the Evil Empire are defeated, but the rebels are later forced to flee because the Empire now knows where their stronghold is.

Sound familiar?
Spot on-- I've been saying the same since Eldest debuted.

On the subject, the award goes hands-down to Eragon (big surprise), largely due to my irrational admiriation/disgust of Christopher Paolini and my hatred of what they did to his wonderful/despicable book; it was once said (by me) that fantasy writing as a whole is a competition to see who can plagiarize J.R.R. Tolkien the best without being caught.

Natural Born Killers was very, very violent.

But only the black and white prison scene of all those people killing each other was a bit OTT
